The promotional meeting of the trail running race Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail®, which will be run by Argeus Travel & Events on October 16-17, 2021 with the main sponsorship of Salomon Turkey, was hosted by Ürgüp Municipality. At the meeting, Ürgüp District Governor Mehmet Maraşlı, Ürgüp Mayor Mehmet Aktürk and Argeus Travel & Events Owner Aydın Ayhan Güney met with members of the media. Approximately 119 domestic and foreign athletes will compete in the Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail®, which will be the scene of races on three different tracks, 63 km, 38 km and 2.500 km.
Excitement for Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail®, one of the sports events with the highest participation in our country, is increasing day by day. In addition to Turkish athletes, athletes from distant geographies of the world will also participate in the organization, which will be held on 16-17 October 2021.

The introductory meeting of the race, which will celebrate its seventh anniversary this year, was hosted by Ürgüp Mayor Mehmet Aktürk. Aktürk summarized his work before the race as follows:
“Natural with its fairy chimneys and valleys; historical with its rock settlements, places of worship, mansions, baths; warm with its gastronomy and human nature; fantastic with balloon, atv, jeep safari, horse, tours; We are very proud to host such a big, tiring but also fun organization in this unique geography.
In our Cappadocia region, we, Ürgüp residents and myself the Mayor of Ürgüp, spend overtime working to expand the tourism spectrum. Along with the diversity of festival and student tourism, our sine qua non is, of course, sports tourism. Our city has always been a pioneer in alternative sports organizations. With the long-standing struggle of Aydın Ayhan Güney, Argeus Travel & Events, we support the shopkeepers as "yours is the shop", where approximately 80 domestic and foreign athletes from nearly 2500 countries will compete and the families of these athletes. Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail®, for which we will host approximately 5000 people this year, to our Ürgüp, Cappadocia and our country.
Our Ürgüp, which has become the locomotive of tourism in our country with its diversity of tourism such as history, culture, worship, activity, and which has been a source for world civilization with its history, culture and human structure, has now made a name for itself in terms of organization. “We have reached the final stage in our preparations”
Aydın Ayhan Güney, who started his speech by thanking Ürgüp Mayor Mehmet Aktürk and municipality employees for their comprehensive support to Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail®, made the following statements:
“We are very excited and happy to realize Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail® in 19, which we had to take a break for a year due to the Covid-2021 outbreak. Despite the one-year hiatus, we are proud to be approaching our 2019 registration numbers. This shows us that foreign athletes especially miss the race in Cappadocia.
We have reached the final stage in terms of our preparations. We believe that we will offer a smooth racing experience to all athletes with the contributions of public institutions and organizations and the support of our sponsors. We will also meticulously follow all necessary measures against the Covid-19 epidemic.
In our organization, there will be 119 km Salomon Cappadocia Ultra-Trail®, 63 km Salomon Cappadocia Medium-Trail® and 38 km Salomon Cappadocia Short-Trail® races. All of our tracks will show the participants the wonderful nature and historical existence of our Cappadocia. More than 600 staff and volunteers will be on the field in order for the athletes to have a problem-free race.
“We expect the economic contribution we will create to reach 20 million TL”
Nearly half of the athletes who will participate in our organization, which is one of the most respected events in the global running world and one of the Ultra-Trail World Tour races, will be foreign athletes. In addition, 4.000 people will be accommodated in Cappadocia, together with the families of the athletes, and we will make a great contribution to our tradesmen in the region. The hotel occupancy rate in and around Ürgüp will reach 100%, and the athletes, their relatives and visitors who come for the race will be an important support to the regional companies. The organization is expected to make an economic contribution of more than 20 million TL to our country and region.
“We will run a Charity Run together with Step by Step”
We are completing the normal registration process of our race today. However, we will also accept a limited number of late registrations in the week before the race. We will donate the income from late registration to the Turkish Athletics Foundation. We will also be breaking new ground this year. With the cooperation of Adim Adim, we will make the Charity Run a part of our race, and we will help to transfer funds to NGOs' projects that create social value.”
