Emirates' iconic double-decker jumbo jet A380 has landed in Istanbul today to celebrate its scheduled daily flights to Istanbul Airport. Emirates started daily A1 flights to Istanbul on October 380, and today, for the first time, its iconic double-decker aircraft met with passengers in Istanbul with its 4 class.

A VIP delegation led by Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Senior Vice President of International Affairs, and Adil Al Ghaith, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations (Gulf, Middle East and Central Asia) participated in the special flight with the number of flights EK123.

While the plane that landed at Istanbul Airport at 14.25 was welcomed by follow me vehicles, Istanbul Airport officials welcomed the Emirates delegation.

Adil Al Ghaith, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations (Gulf, Middle East and Central Asia) said: “We are honored to be here today to celebrate our commercially launched A380 flight to Istanbul. Emirates has been keen to bring the A380 to this amazing new Istanbul Airport since it opened. We are happy to finally see our flagship in this beautiful city, as in many other major cities we currently serve with the A380. Turkey is an important market for Emirates. It was one of the first destinations we flew to in the early years of our establishment. Since then, we have carried six million passengers on more than 1987 flights since 23.000.

Bringing the A380 service to Turkey is an important milestone for Emirates. I would like to thank once again the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Turkey for working with all stakeholders to make the A380 landing in Istanbul a reality.”

Emirates and Turkey have had a relationship spanning over 31 years, since the airline's maiden flight from Dubai to Istanbul on 1987 July 30. Emirates operates 17 flights per week to Istanbul. Flights from Turkey are operated by B777-300ER and A380 aircraft, which feature Emirates' award-winning inflight entertainment system and the highest level of comfort in all cabins. Through its hub in Dubai, Emirates offers connections across its global network to more than 120 destinations on six continents, including regions such as the Middle East, Far East, Australia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America and South Asia.

Having launched the three-class A380, Emirates offers a total of 14 seats with 76 private suites in First Class, 429 mini-units with convertible seats in Business Class, and 597 extra-space seats in Economy Class. Compared to the current Boeing 777-300ER, this provides 150 passengers more capacity per flight.

First Class passengers can enjoy Emirates' private suites and the signature in-flight Shower Spa, while First and Business Class passengers can relax in the famous Onboard Lounge on the upper floor. Passengers of all classes can take advantage of free wireless internet to stay in touch with family and friends, the largest in-seat screens in the industry, and Emirates' multi-award-winning “ice” inflight entertainment, which already includes over 4500 channels.
