Pain that occurs at any time during life makes daily life difficult. So what are the most common pains? Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Specialist Associate Professor Ahmet İnanır gave important information on the subject.

BACKACHE

Pain is a finding. It is not a disease. It's not pain that needs to be treated either; The main cause of the pain is the elimination of the disease or the repair of the malfunction. Pain that lasts for less than 6 weeks is called Acute Low Back Pain. It may develop after a certain activity or trauma, or it may occur without trauma. Usually, the pain subsides on its own or may go away completely. About 30% of people who have had severe back pain once will have a relapse. However, if it is under control and care, this recurrence risk can be minimized. Low back pain that persists for more than three months is called Chronic Low Back Pain. The existing tissue disorder causes pain by affecting the nerve endings in the environment. The most common thing we see is that diseases that we can easily handle in acute pain period become chronic by lingering on incompetent hands. Being overweight, lifting heavy enough to cause hernia or straining the waist structures, working bent forward, sitting for a long time or leaning forward while sitting or doing work or standing, or the same. Staying in the position for a long time, long stressful periods, giving birth many times, doing housework in an inappropriate position for a long time, that is, without a break, not protecting the waist in sexual life cause back problems.

MUSCLE PAIN

Stress makes it harder for the body to fight disease. People who are sick and stressed may experience pain in their muscles as the body tries to fight off inflammation or infection. In addition, anxiety, fear, and stress combine to lower immunity and cause muscle, waist, neck, head, and even joint pain. People can try to cope with stress by learning cognitive and coping techniques and avoiding stressful situations if possible. A person may experience muscle aches and pains if they do not get the appropriate nutrients from their diet. Vitamin B12 deficiency is among the factors that cause low back pain. Vitamin D is an important factor especially in ensuring the regular functioning of the muscles. Vitamin D helps with calcium absorption, and a deficiency of this vitamin can cause low calcium. This is a condition that can affect bones and organs in addition to muscles. Severe muscle pain may also occur in individuals who are exposed to dehydration, which means that the body has insufficient water ratio. It is vital to drink enough water to keep the body functioning properly. Because the lack of enough fluid in the body can cause the functions to become inadequate. For this reason, it is necessary to make adequate fluid intake a habit. Insufficient sleep or insufficient rest can give different symptoms on the body. One of them manifests as headache and general body pain. Insufficient sleep can cause people to feel sluggish. Excessive activity can cause muscle strain and pain. Not having a regular exercise routine, starting a new exercise, exercising more intensely or for longer than normal, warming up or not stretching properly can also cause muscle or low back neck pain. Hereditary conditions, infections, other diseases can also cause muscle pain. Anemia, Joint inflammation, Chronic fatigue syndrome, asymmetrical gait (Lumbling), Influenza infections, Fibromyalgia Syndrome, myofascial pain syndrome can be counted among other causes of pain.

SHOULDER PAIN

Shoulder pain accompanied by restriction in shoulder movements while dressing and undressing and difficulty in moving the hand to the back indicate shoulder freezing. Weakness in muscle strength may accompany shoulder pain caused by nerve damage in the muscles around the shoulder. Shoulder pain may also develop due to internal organ diseases. Chest diseases, lung and gall bladder diseases can cause shoulder pain. Shoulder impingement syndrome, calcific tendinitis, semi dislocations of the shoulder, strain pain due to the muscles around the shoulder can cause myofascial pain syndrome and shoulder calcification pain.

NECK PAIN

Neck hernias, especially in individuals who work at desks and use smart phones, have become a serious problem that affects all age groups, even children and young people. Neck hernia occurs as a result of the soft jelly-like part in the middle and inside of the cartilaginous disc between the vertebrae infiltrating from the surrounding layers and entering the area where it should not be. If the protruding disc material herniates from the middle part of the spinal canal, it can press on the nerves going to the spinal cord, and if it herniates from the side of the canal, it can be painful or painless.

In the hernia originating from the middle section, the person pains; It can be felt in the shoulders, neck and shoulder blades or on the back. In hernias close to the side, it may manifest itself with pain, numbness, tingling or weakness in the patient's arm. Pain in the neck, neck, shoulder and back pain, limitation of neck movements, muscle spasm, numbness in the arms and hands, numbness in the arms, thinning of the arms, muscle strength in the arms and hands can be seen. All these findings affect people's lives, making life difficult or even unbearable.
