Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made the first rail welding of Başakşehir-Pine and Sakura City Hospital-Kayaşehir Metro Line. Emphasizing that a new phase was started in the project by starting the rail welding processes, Karaismailoğlu said that they plan to complete the construction work of the project in a short time and put it into operation. Emphasizing that they brought the project, which was taken over from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality with 5 percent progress, to 72 percent, Karaismailoğlu said, "We believe that our people will see the one who brings the water and the one who breaks the jug."
Reminding that they took over the construction of Başakşehir-Çam and Sakura City Hospital-Kayaşehir Metro Line from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Karaismailoğlu said, “One of the largest and most advanced technologies in the world, Çam and Sakura City Hospital is located in Kayaşehir, where mass housing and population density is very high. will provide transportation. In this line, which is one of our top priority lines, unfortunately, the construction of the metro line was stopped from July 2019 until the day we took over, and no work was done. As you may remember, the same mentality did not build the roads to Çam and Sakura Hospital, but our Ministry made all the necessary roads to reach the hospital.”
WITH 5% PROGRESS, WE BRINGED THE PROJECT TO 72% LEVEL
Underlining that the construction of Başakşehir-Kayaşehir Metro Line was transferred to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure with the Presidential decree, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu made the following assessments:
“With the progress of 5 percent, we brought the project we took over on May 22, 2020 to the level of 72 percent. We increased the station reinforced concrete works to 80 percent. We reached the level of 37 percent in fine works and 64 percent in rail works. A total of 9 thousand 523 meters of tunnel excavation; We reached the level of 6 percent in the NATM tunnel sections of 277 meters. We completed the 93-meter TBM tunnel section with 3 TBMs with an average speed of 246 meters per day. We have also completed the production of the viaduct, where we held the first rail welding ceremony.”
70 THOUSAND PASSENGERS
Expressing that TBM tunnel excavation works, under-rail concrete productions and electrification productions have been completed, Karaismailoğlu said that they have passed 7 percent of the entire rail work by laying 421 thousand 64 meters of rail. Explaining that the length of Başakşehir-Pine and Sakura City Hospital-Kayaşehir Metro Line is 6,2 kilometers, Karaismailoğlu gave the following information:
“Our 4-station rail system will be able to carry 80 thousand passengers per day in accordance with a speed of 70 kilometers per hour. Our line starting from Başakşehir will reach Kayşaşehir Center after Onurkent, Çam and Sakura City Hospital, Mass Housing stations. With the first rail welding ceremony to be held on the 300-meter-long viaduct we built in front of Çam and Sakura City Hospital; By starting rail welding operations, we will enter a new phase in the project. We plan to put it into operation as soon as we complete the construction work and complete the signal and system safety tests. When we put this line into operation, a fast, economical and safe transportation will be provided between the city center and Çam and Sakura City Hospital and Kayaşehir. This metro line will also be integrated with the Bağcılar-Kirazlı, Başakşehir-Olimpiyatköy line at Metrokent Station. Also, our line is at Kayaşehir Station. Halkalı-Istanbul Airport will be connected with the Metro line. With these integrations, the region will also be able to reach Marmaray, the airport, Göktürk Kemerburgaz, Kağıthane, Beşiktaş Gayrettepe by metro.”
TRAVEL TIMES WILL BE SHORTENED
Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the travel time between Kayaşehir and Mahmutbey will be 20 minutes, the travel time between Metrokent and Istanbul Airport will be 24 minutes, the travel time between Kayaşehir and Beşiktaş Gayrettepe will be 45 minutes, and the travel time between Çam and Sakura City Hospital-Bağcılar (Kirazlı) will be 23 minutes. He said that with the completion of the Bakırköy-Bağcılar metro line, which is under construction by the Ministry, the travel time between Başakşehir Metrokent and Bakırköy Freedom Square will be 29 minutes.
