The distribution of 4 sheep and goats, donated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to increase the herd quality of the producers in İzmir, has started within the scope of the "Breeding Ovine Investment Programme".
Torbalı District Governor Ercan Öter, İzmir Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Mustafa Özen, Head of Breeding Sheep Goat Breeders' Union Ferhan Eroğlu, representatives of political parties and producers attended the distribution ceremony held in Torbalı District.
Speaking at the opening of the ceremony, Torbalı District Governor Ercan Öter stated that he was happy to host the distribution ceremony of the project, which he found very meaningful, and said, “I believe that our producers will also make good use of this support opportunity. I would like to thank everyone who contributed and contributed.”
Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Özen, in his speech at the opening, said, “Izmir, known as the city of industry and tourism and famous for its beauty, is actually a very important agricultural giant. We live in a leading province in both plant and animal production. As the Ministry and Provincial Directorate, we are always with our producers with the projects and supports we carry out in every field of agriculture.”
Expressing that 1 million 100 thousand small cattle are still being raised in İzmir, Özen mentioned the details of the grant program; “With this program, which will contribute to 300 livestock enterprises, we also aim to increase the quality of the herd. With the inclusion of these animals with high breeding quality in the herds, we make an important contribution to sheep and goat breeding in İzmir. As of today, 85 breeding animals, 4% of which are covered by the grant of our Ministry, have started to reach their owners. We distribute 800 animals, 300 females and 15 male, to each of our 1 producers. Our province received almost half of this support given to 16 producers across the country. Good luck to all our producers who benefited from the grant program.”
After the drawing of lots that took place after the opening speeches, the producers received their animals from the authorities.
