Intercity Chairman of the Board of Directors Vural Ak stated that they are happy to complete the race perfectly this year after last year.
Formula 1TM, which is shown as the biggest and most prestigious of motor sports organizations in the world, took place once again this year at Intercity Istanbul Park after last season. Vural Ak, who said that Formula 1TM Rolex Turkish Grand Prix 2021, brought back to Turkey by Intercity under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, created great excitement and interest in Turkey and the world, said, “We made great efforts to bring this giant organization to Turkey and Istanbul. and the painting we saw as a result made us very happy. Our race track and Istanbul, which is loved by pilots and motor sports enthusiasts all over the world, has been featured in the world's media. With this promotion, which Istanbul has needed for a long time, millions of eyes were turned to Istanbul. Due to the pandemic conditions, the tickets we offered for sale at half capacity attracted great interest and a total of 3 thousand people flocked to Intercity Istanbul Park for 190 days.
NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE FOR 10-YEAR CONTRACT
Intercity Chairman of the Board Vural Ak, who emphasized that they immediately started negotiations for the race to be held in Turkey after such an important success, said, “We hosted Formula 1TM CEO and Chief Executive Officer Stefano Domenicalli in Istanbul at the weekend. He was astonished by the interest shown in Formula 1TM races in Turkey and Istanbul. We are negotiating to include a race that will last for years, not just one year, on the calendar. The three-year license we received from the FIA last year is proof that our track is always ready for any development. Of course, behind this success is a great team and teamwork. All institutions were mobilized when our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, took the race under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey. In this context, I would like to thank all relevant public institutions and our supporters from the private sector for their interest and relevance since the beginning of the process. In addition, the Speaker of the Parliament, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop also honored us by presenting the trophies to the champions on the race day.”

Lewis Hamilton surpassed Colombia's Juan Pablo Montoya's record of 2005 race laps in 1.24.770 by pulling up to 1.22.868.
Hamilton, who was the first person to go below 1.24 in Istanbul Park, also managed to become the first pilot to go below 1.23.
