More than half a century ago, the legendary Manta, which was introduced to the market with its four-cylinder gasoline engine and followed by the masses, attracts great attention today as the first ElektroMOD model in the history of the German brand. The new Opel Manta GSe ElektroMOD prepared in this direction; It combines the classic look of a style icon and today's cutting-edge technologies for sustainable driving.
Adventure from the Opel Classic workshop to the roads
Opel engineers laid the foundations for Manta GSe ElektroMOD with Manta A in the Opel Classic workshop. Given to the Opel Classic in 1988 by a Wiesbaden female driver, the Manta A attracted attention with its black vinyl roof, automatic transmission, orange color and almost rust-free bodywork. After Opel engineers converted the vehicle's electrical system, they received the vehicle's Technical Oversight Board (TÜV) approval. The neon yellow color of Manta GSE ElektroMOD, which will attract attention and fascinate those who see it, was also applied to the vehicle after this process. The original Manta A seats on the vehicle have been replaced with sports seats developed for the Opel ADAM S, with a central yellow decor line, as should be in a modern car.
Prepared in the Opel Classic garage, Manta-e GSe ElektroMOD manages to adapt to the 'restomod' trend, which is classic vehicles with modern power-train systems. In the case of the Manta GSe ElektroMOD, the development team kept the original spirit of the car and in doing so; It featured the latest innovations: the impressive Pixel-Viewfinder with the latest LED technology, the all-digital cockpit and, of course, the battery-electric powertrain. Expressing his views on behalf of the Manta GSe team, Opel Global Brand Design Manager Pierre-Olivier Garcia said: “Manta GSe represents pure-blooded automobile love. With ElektroMOD, we are building a bridge between the deep-rooted Opel tradition and the sustainable future. The interplay between the spirit of the time and the present is absolutely fascinating,” he says.
Responsibility with power
The original car that was worked on to develop the new Manta GSe ElektroMOD had an automatic transmission. Engineers applied technical changes to adapt the four-speed manual transmission preferred by millions of people. Using a new flywheel and longer shaft than normal for ElektroMOD, which has a larger clutch, engineers have also made improvements in the vehicle's braking system. The Manta A's standard brakes have been converted to larger brakes on the front axles and disc brakes instead of drums on the rear axle. Thanks to this transformation, the new Manta GSe ElektroMOD has a braking system that is as good as it can go fast.
Manta GSe ElektroMOD, which is different from all Manta A models developed in Opel history, has the most powerful engine (108 kW - 147 HP) ever produced, except for a few special models. The car, which transfers the power it produces to the rear axles, has a stiffer suspension at the front and a softer one at the rear to suit its sporty driving character. These adjustments made to highlight the sporty spirit and provide road holding ensure that the new model does not compromise on driving safety.

Offers 200 km range
The new Manta GSe's lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 31 kWh is placed as far forward as possible in the trunk for the best possible grip and a low center of gravity at all times. After the ElektroMOD conversion, the Manta reached a weight of approximately 1.137 kg. Although this means a mass body weight of 175 kg more than the original Manta A, the vehicle can reach a range of 200 km under normal driving conditions. Like the Corsa-e and Mokka-e models, the electric Manta also incorporates energy recovery features. Thanks to this recovery, which is activated with the help of the button on the console, it is possible to reach longer ranges.
Traditional driving experience
While developing the Manta GSe ElektroMOD, Opel keeps its traditional design and takes the driving experience of the vehicle to the next level. To start the car, it is enough to turn the ignition key. In ElektroMOD, it is necessary to select the fourth gear to start driving directly. Thanks to the maximum power and torque produced by the electric motor, the Manta GSe can move even at the highest gear ratio, making you feel like you have an automatic transmission car. Those who want to maintain the traditional driving spirit can choose the first gear ratio in the four-speed gearbox and switch between gear ratios according to their driving after taking off. The Manta GSe ElektroMOD is a car that accelerates vigorously and willingly. Opel engineers have electronically limited the top speed of this car to 150 km/h.
