Our National Women's Volleyball Team faced the Netherlands in the third place match of the 2021 CEV European Volleyball Championship. Sultans of the Net did not set their opponent in the match they played against the Netherlands and won the bronze medal by winning the match with a score of 3-0.
The national team started well in the match held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, and showed a superior game throughout the set. The crescent-star team that scored with Tuğba, Ebrar, Eda, Hande and Zehra took the set 25-20 and took the lead 1-0.
In the second set, which started with mutual points, the Netherlands dominated 6-4. The "Sultans of the Net", who put their weight on the game, took a 5-0 lead with a 9-6 series. Continuing their effective game, the national team won the set 25-19, bringing the score to 2-0.
The Netherlands started the third set well. The National Team, which was behind for a long time, caught its opponent in 20-20. The crescent-stars, who played the last part better, won the set 25-23 and the match 3-0. With this score, the Nationals won the bronze medal as the third in Europe.
Hande Baladin and Ebrar Karakurt each scored 13 points, Zehra Güneş 9 points, Eda Erdem Dündar 8 points, Tuğba Şenoğlu 5 points each, Cansu Özbay and Meliha İsmailoğlu 3 points each, and Meryem Boz contributed 2 points each.
'Turkish women are very strong and can achieve anything'
At the end of the match, head coach Giovanni Guidetti and the players made statements. “I am very happy,” Guidetti said. Thank you very much on behalf of everyone, it's been a very long summer. We won 2 medals and finished 5th in the Olympics, I think it's not too bad. We are very close to becoming one of the top three teams in the world. The Turkish national team plays until the end of each tournament. We are proud of that. Our team should set an example and role model for all young girls and women in Turkey. Our team showed that Turkish women are very strong and can achieve anything.”
Zehra Güneş, one of the actors, said, “We have been together since May, we had a very difficult process. We finished our last tournament with a medal. Thank you to everyone who has given their support. We felt at home everywhere,” he said.
“We played full tournaments,” said Eda Erdem, adding, “I think we recovered well after yesterday's defeat, we thought it would be worthy for us to complete with a medal. Today we were the more willing side. It's a gift to our people. Turkish people, glad to have you. You have been incredibly supportive of us. Thank you all so much. See you in the summer of 2022, take care of yourself.

Ebrar Karakurt, on the other hand, shared on his social media account, "Those who want to defame us can write in their diaries by crying that we are the 3rd place in Europe."
