Organized for the seventh time this year to raise awareness for the Bergama and Selçuk districts of İzmir, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage list, the "UNESCO World Heritage Road Bicycle Tour" ended with a ceremony held in Cumhuriyet Square. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer accompanied the athletes for a while and gave a plaque of appreciation to those who contributed to the organization.

Organized in cooperation with the Governorship of Izmir, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Bergama and Selcuk municipalities, UNESCO Turkey National Commission, the “7. Bicycle Tour on the UNESCO World Heritage Trail” was completed. 300 athletes participated in the tour organized to raise awareness for Bergama and Selçuk districts, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The athletes who participated in the tour, which started simultaneously from Bergama Kızılavlu and Selçuk Ephesus yesterday (Saturday, 11 September) in the morning and ended at Cumhuriyet Square in the evening, were honored by the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Tunç Soyer welcomed. Mayor Soyer, who accompanied the athletes on a bicycle for a while, presented a plaque of appreciation to the company representatives who supported the organization at the ceremony held in Cumhuriyet Square. Bergama Mayor Hakan Koştu and Selçuk Mayor Filiz Ceritoğlu Sengel were the Mayor of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. Tunç SoyerHe gave a plaque of appreciation for his contributions.

Pedals turned for a greener world

The athletes, who pedaled for the promotion and protection of world heritage and the spread of cycling, pedaled 110 kilometers from Bergama and 80 kilometers from Selçuk. Nearly 2016 saplings were donated in the UNESCO World Heritage Road Cycling Tour, which started in 5 and where 4 people have cycled for a total of 445 kilometers between 225 different world heritage sites on 5 different routes so far. 200 athletes from Bergama and Selçuk, who participated in the tour organized this year, donated 300 saplings.
