Gayrettepe-Kağıthane-Eyüpsultan-Istanbul Airport Metro Line project, who made inspections at Kağıthane Station, said on the social media account of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu, “The new symbol of the metro in Istanbul!” The logo that he shared with the letter "U" on it created controversy. IMM Sözcüsü Murat Ongun shared that the symbol of the subway in Istanbul has been “M” since 1992, quoting Minister Karaismailoğlu's tweet.

Thereupon, social media users began to question what this 'U' means. Karaismailoğlu wrote "I Love U" in his post. It means 'I love you' in English. U is the abbreviation of 'you' which means 'you' in English.

Minister Karaismailoğlu, in his social media account, said, “The new symbol of the metro in Istanbul!” He shared the letter “U”.

'M' EXPLANATION FROM IMM

After this sharing, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Sözcüsü Murat Ongun, in his social media account, said, “Mr. Minister, the symbol of the metro in Istanbul has been 'M' since 1992. It was the same when you were on duty at IMM, and it will remain as M during this period when the most metro is made in Istanbul. “Service is service to Istanbul, it is not nice to separate it,” he said.
