Rize İyidere-İkizdere Road Hurmalık-1 and Hurmalık-2 Tunnels and connection roads were opened with the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Speaking at the opening, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said that they made the investments in a planned manner within the framework of the Transport and Logistics Master Plan and said, “Thanks to our investments, our region is turning into an important logistics center. Our policies, which serve our holistic development goal, also improve our transportation axes with surrounding provinces and regions. of trade; We are taking steps so that it can be done in safe and fast road standards.”

Noting that the vision of President Erdoğan, the investments and plans realized with the support of the nation, the targets have been fulfilled one by one, Karaismailoğlu continued as follows:

“We are working hard to turn Turkey into the world's largest logistics power in the Middle Corridor. We continue to take the necessary steps with great determination to grow our country on the basis of investment, production, export and employment, and to carry Turkey to 2053 and 2071 targets.”

Noting that works are still ongoing on 12 highway projects in Rize, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu stated that a total of 37,9 kilometers of divided road has been completed, starting from the Black Sea Coastal Road İyidere location and ending at the exit of İkizdere District.

“WE WILL SAVE 17 MILLION TL WITH THE PROJECT”

Reminding that they have completed and put into service the 27,2 kilometer part of the project, Karaismailoğlu gave the following information:

“With the Hurmalık-1 and Hurmalık-2 tunnels, which we have completed today, and the connection roads, 30.8 kilometers of the project will be completed. We built Hurmalık-1 Tunnel as 850 meters and Hurmalık-2 Tunnel as 720 meters double tube. Today, we are also putting into service the 186-meter Hurmalık-1 entrance bridge and the 63-meter Hurmalık-1 exit bridge, together with these two tunnels. Together with the fast, comfortable and safe traffic flow through our tunnels, we will save 12,5 million liras from time and 4,5 million liras from fuel, totaling 17 million liras per year. In addition, there will be 2 tons less carbon emissions.”

“DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL RESOURCES USED”

Emphasizing that they are happy to put the projects into service under the leadership of President Erdoğan, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu underlined that the project value is 1 billion 702 million 976 thousand liras. Expressing that domestic and national resources are used in the design and construction of İkizdere tunnels and connection roads, Karaismailoğlu noted that Turkish engineers and workers are working on the project.

Explaining that their work continues in Rize, Karaismailoğlu announced that they are approaching the end at Rize-Artvin Airport. Karaismailoğlu added that the activities in Rize's Iyidere Logistics Port are continuing rapidly.
