Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is implementing a series of measures within the scope of "winter traffic order" before the schools will open on Monday, September 6th. In addition to ongoing and newly launched applications and services, the number of vehicles and the frequency of departures will be greatly increased in all elements of public transportation. In addition, with the decision of UKOME, for the first time this year, students and teachers will be able to benefit from public transportation for 5 cents, only for the first week. The application will start at 5:6 at night connecting Sunday, September 02.00 to Monday, September 10; It will end at 11:02.00 in the night connecting Friday, September XNUMX to Saturday, September XNUMX.
The application will be valid for the first 25 kilometers in İZBAN, which is operated by TCDD-Metropolitan partnership. After that, pricing will be made on the current tariff. Likewise, on the lines where the Pay As You Go tariff is applied, students and teachers will be able to board for 10 cents for the first 5 kilometers. After that, pricing will be made on the current tariff. Owl and airport flights will be exempt from the application.

Additional flights on all lines
With the opening of schools, bus, metro and tram lines will be strengthened with additional services. During peak hours, metro services will be made every 3 minutes. New ferries are also coming
İZDENİZ General Directorate passenger ships and car ferries will continue their voyages every 15 minutes, especially during peak hours. If necessary, additional flights can be activated quickly. On the other hand, the ferry fleet is also being strengthened. The newly chartered Mavi Aegean Car Ferry is scheduled to be put into service in the first half of September. The number of ferryboats serving on the Üçkuyular-Bostanlı line will increase to 6 in a short time, together with other ferries whose chartering works are ongoing. Thus, two ferryboats will be able to take off from the piers at the same time, and the density of vehicles in the waiting areas will be greatly reduced.
Faulty parking will be prevented
Police and municipal police teams will work together on "faulty parking", which is one of the biggest causes of traffic congestion. Especially during peak hours; A meticulous task will be carried out to prevent faulty parking and waiting at the main arteries all over the city. Loading and unloading activities, which can cause traffic congestion, will also be examined. In accordance with the UKOME decision; These activities will not be allowed between 06.00-10.00 and 16.00-19.00 on the streets and boulevards where transportation is intense.
Additional strip applications
An additional lane application will continue in Altınyol, which was built with the coordination of the Provincial Police Department. Between 07.30 and 09.30 hours Karşıyakato Konak direction; From Konak between 17.30 – 19.30 Karşıyaka additional lane will be opened. The additional lane application at the intersection of Çankaya Fevzi Paşa Boulevard and Cumhuriyet Boulevard will continue.
Free roadside assistance service
The "free towing" service, which is provided between 07.30 - 10.30 and 16.30 - 20.30 on weekdays, will also continue. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality tow trucks, which are ready at the appropriate points of the main arteries, quickly remove the vehicles left on the road due to accidents or breakdowns. Within the scope of the application, which has been going on since September 9, 2020, a total of 150 vehicles were towed within an average of 19 minutes, allowing traffic to be opened.
