Our psychology needs a balanced and correct diet just like our body.

Underlining that psychological health is as important as physical health, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan emphasizes that our psychology needs balanced and proper nutrition just like our body. Pointing out the importance of emotion management, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, “We must keep love, which is our most important psychological resource, in a large pool and we must be generous in love.” said. Tarhan also said that mental investment should be made to make life meaningful.

Üsküdar University Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said that before the 90s, emotions and thoughts were shown as sources of psychology, and after the 90s, with the introduction of the concept of neuroscience into our lives, especially with brain studies, the effect of emotions and values on human behavior was investigated.

Man is a psychological being

Noting that man is not only a rational being, but also a psychological being, Tarhan said, "Like other living things, he is not content with eating, drinking and procreating. When we ignore the psychological dimension of people, we keep people at a primitive level. Eating, drinking, and reproduction are the needs of human beings in order to survive. However, human is a being who thinks abstractly, conceptually and symbolically. Because of this feature, man has psychological resources. These resources also need to be managed and invested. Emotions and values need to be taken into account. What do we understand by emotional and cognitive investment? The word cognitive entered Turkish as a psychology terminology. It didn't fit well in Turkish. In fact, the word that best fits this concept is mental investment. There is a mind above our brain. The mind is also associated with the quantum universe. Neuroscience revealed this. 'There is a p300 wave in the brain. It's not the brain that decides, it's the holographic brain over the brain,' this is said by reasoning. This is currently being investigated.” said.

Psychology is gathered in 3 words: mind, brain, culture

Stating that people make decisions not only with their minds by reasoning, but also with their emotions, emotions and cultural values, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, “Psychology is gathered in three words: mind, brain and culture. When these three concepts come together, human becomes human. It can also be called the mind instead of the mind. It's called mind, brain and culture. Man is the sum of these three.

Emotion management is the management of the chemical pharmacy in the brain.

Man is not just an emotion. It is not just a thought alone. Our culture has synthesized mind and heart. What is meant by the heart is emotion. It is not the physical heart. The heart here comes from the Arabic word Revolution. The heart is the organ that transforms, transforms, transforms sound energy into electrical energy, or transforms heat energy into electrical energy, like this. Therefore, the connection of the heart with our emotions and chemicals in the brain has been determined. Actually, emotion management means the management of the chemical pharmacy in our brain. To manage a person's psychology well means to manage their brain chemistry well. he said.

We will keep the pool of love wide

Stating that the most important psychological resource is love, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan “There is a pool formula in resource management in investment. You will keep the pool big. You will expand love, our most important psychological resource. We will be generous with love. Some are love stingy. We must express love as the language of emotion. Beloved language doesn't necessarily mean 'I love you', we can express love in other ways as well. The important thing is to be sincere.” said.

Intention is also a psychological resource.

“The eyes, the face, the heart need to be the same. A great intention emerges in the person who achieves this," said Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, “Intention is also a psychological resource. Goodwill is the magic word. There are studies on the "neurobiology of goodwill and intention". People with good intentions have emotional mirror neurons working in the brain. It activates the areas in the brain of the other party related to positive emotions, and emotional mirror neurons in the brain, like the internet, activate and talk.” he said.

Reinforcing the positive aspect is essential

Pointing out the importance of enlarging the pool in resource management and then using this pool correctly and wisely, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, “You have to give first, then you can manage. In education, teachers, parents will be generous with love. There is no need to show violence or shout when the child makes a mistake. You will give love to the child. What is real success in education? Reinforcing the positive is essential, punishing is the exception. For academic and life success in education. In order to be successful, the child must love the lesson. In order to love the lesson, he must love the teacher. It's not enough either. For the teacher to love the teacher, the teacher must love the student. If this chain of love turns, after a while the child becomes successful.” said.

It takes mental investment to make life meaningful

Stating that mental investment is needed to make life meaningful, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, “It is important for a person to know himself, to learn to manage his emotions, to manage emotions, thoughts and values as a resource. In order to achieve these, you will first invest emotionally and mentally. What is mental investment? You will make your mind wise. To make it wise, it is necessary to add emotion to the mind. Synthesis of mind and heart is required. For this, one needs to learn high moral values. By using our mind and heart, we can increase our emotional and cognitive resources and investments.” gave advice.
