Metropolitan Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Inc. participated in the 6th Kayseri Transportation Summit organized by Mayor Büyükkılıç made important statements about transportation projects and services in the city to the participants at the summit.

The summit held at Kadir Has Congress and Sports Center was attended by Mayor Büyükkılıç, Talas Mayor Mustafa Yalçın, Kayseri University Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa, Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Hüseyin Beyhan, Deputy Secretary Generals Bayar Özsoy, Hamdi Elcuman and Serdar Öztürk and around 16 industry representatives from 150 different cities attended.

Büyükkılıç started his speech at the 6th Kayseri Transportation Summit by stating that Kayseri was the first city to implement the HES code application in public transportation and the decisions not to accept standing passengers during the pandemic process, and as a doctor, he repeated his call to be vaccinated within the scope of combating the corona virus.

President Büyükkılıç talked to the participants about the historical and cultural riches of Kayseri, the center of industry, tourism, health and trade, which is known as an open-air museum. Büyükkılıç said he is pleased to be at the 6th Kayseri Summit held by the transportation unit in such a beautiful city, the grandchildren of ancestors who established a foundation for storks with broken legs, and said, “We will continue to have an understanding that acts with the philosophy that the state will live. We can never be happy that 'there is a problem with transportation in such and such a city, there is chaos', on the contrary, we are sad. This is the nature of common sense. Mayor Büyükkılıç emphasized that they continue to work in unity, solidarity and solidarity with 16 district mayors and underlined that they care about the common sense in transportation and that they do not ignore cooperation with universities and organized industry.

Mayor Büyükkılıç stated that transportation in Kayseri has three dimensions: the transformation of minibuses into buses, the introduction of rail system lines and the decision to manage transportation from a single source.

Büyükkılıç mentioned that Kayseri is the first city to apply natural gas-powered buses, and said:

“Thus, an environmentally friendly city comes to the fore in terms of air pollution and the environment. I would like to remind you that around 40% of our buses run on natural gas. In the last period, we bought 25 more buses, all of them are natural gas and environmentally friendly buses. When our work on the tram started in Kayseri, we broke new ground again. Its floor is paved with lively green grass, and while it gains natural beauty, we also received the best urban integration award from the International Public Transport Association.”

It knows no boundaries in service, and provides consultancy services to provinces in Turkey and abroad, apart from Kayseri. Finally, as we foresee that the traffic load will increase with the increasing number of vehicles, “150. Our Traffic Signaling Center project, which we include among “150 Projects per Year”, is being implemented this year. While 120 cameras are planned to be installed within the scope of the Traffic Control Center, 1 intersections will be commissioned in the 55st phase, and the installation of the smart intersection infrastructure will be completed within 45 days. With the installation of 1 monitoring cameras in the field in the 120st phase, the city traffic will be monitored live by the operators in the control center. With the smart intersection infrastructure, the intersections will be able to dynamically adjust the signaling times according to the vehicle density. Quick action will be taken from the control center in case of malfunctions such as signal failures and traffic accidents. In the 2nd phase, 60 rail system junctions will be integrated into the control center and turned into smart junctions.”

Deputy Secretary General Bayar Özsoy also attended the summit of Transportation Inc. Emphasizing that transportation and public transportation are one of the most vital issues in cities, he said that they aim to transform the transportation summit into a national and international platform for sharing knowledge and experience.
