Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç SoyerIn line with the goal of transforming İzmir into a city of culture and arts, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality organizes a “Wall Surface Applications Competition” for metro stations. The works of the winning artists will decorate the Basmane, Fahrettin Altay, Konak and Çankaya stations. The deadline for application to the competition is set for September 27, 2021.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality organized the "Wall Surface Applications Competition" for the metro stations for the first time in order to enrich the cultural texture of the city and bring art to daily life. The works of the artists selected in the competition will adorn the walls of the metro stations, where thousands of Izmir residents pass by every day.

4 stations, 8 facades

Applications continue for the national competition for innovative artistic wall surface applications in addition to traditional techniques such as tiles, ceramics, mosaics and reliefs at 8 points on the passenger entrance and exit axes of Basmane, Çankaya, Konak and Fahrettin Altay metro stations. The deadline for the competition, where artists can submit projects for more than one wall, has been set as September 27, 2021.

Measured images of the application surfaces determined in the competition, which is open to the participation of all fine arts disciplines, and the conditions for participation in the competition are available at izmirworkshop.org.
