Decision Taken to Liberalize Transports Between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan

With the Turkish-Kyrgyz Land Transportation Joint Commission Meeting, it was decided to liberalize transportation for the first time with a country in the Central Asian geography. With the signing of the liberalization agreement, Turkish and Kyrgyz carriers will be able to carry out bilateral and transit transportation without the restriction of transit document.

Turkish-Kyrgyz Land Transport Joint Commission Meeting was held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Important decisions were taken in the field of international road transport at the meeting, chaired by Murat Baştor, General Director of Transport Services Regulation of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, to the Turkish Delegation, and Shukhrat Aytiev from the Ministry of Transport and Communications to the Kyrgyz Delegation.

BINARY AND TRANSIT SHIPMENTS WILL BE LIABLE

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure officials; The road transport agreement signed between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan in 1992 was amended and it was decided to liberalize bilateral and transit transports. The legal process for liberalization was initiated and the protocol to amend the agreement was initialed.

The Ministry authorities pointed out that, considering the problems experienced in Central Asian countries regarding transit documents, transportation will be liberalized for the first time with a country in the Central Asian geography and this will set an example for other countries. With the liberalization in road transport, Turkish and Kyrgyz transporters will be able to carry out bilateral and transit transportation without the restriction of the transit document, and the liberalization will also provide great convenience for the trade between the two countries.

COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF LOGISTICS WILL BE STRENGTHENED

During the Land Transport Joint Commission Meeting, private sector representatives and transport associations of both countries came together and decided to develop cooperation.

Located on the border with China, Kyrgyzstan has an important potential in logistics. Turkish and Kyrgyz transporters came together to exchange ideas on logistics centers and the transportation of Chinese cargoes to Europe, and decided to cooperate on logistics centers.
