The August 2021 results of the Construction Materials Industry Composite Index, which is regularly published every month by the Turkish Construction Material Industrialists' Association (Turkey IMSAD), have been announced. Activity Index increased by 4 points

Construction materials industry activities increased significantly in August compared to the previous month. Activities, which declined in July due to the decrease in the number of working days, quickly recovered in August. The main effect of the opening was seen in August. The high season also affected the activities in August positively.

Confidence Index slightly increased

Confidence Index continued its cautious trend in August. The positive effects of the full opening, which started from the beginning of July, on confidence were felt more in August. The strong return on activities also supported confidence.

Confidence level increased by 0,68 points in August compared to the previous month. Confidence, which showed a limited decline in July, showed a limited increase this time in August. The level of confidence in the Turkish economy has increased to a limited extent. Confidence in the construction industry and the building materials industry showed a limited increase. Confidence in domestic markets rose again in August. Confidence in export markets continued to increase in August.

In August, the high seasonal effect and the rapid recovery in activities provided an increase in confidence. However, it was observed that the increase in confidence still showed a very limited increase over the months. It was observed that the cautious trend in confidence continued and the Confidence Index continued to be fragile.

Expectations Index continued to rise

Expectations Index increased by 0,9 points in August compared to the previous month. Thus, the Expectation Index, which started in the new year and paused in July, continued its increase in August. The positive effect of the transition to full opening on expectations was felt in August. The increase in activities and the continuation of the high season also supported the expectations. All sub-indicators increased. There was a limited increase in expectations regarding the Turkish economy. Domestic orders for the next three months increased again. The increase in export orders for the next three months accelerated in August. The production expectation for the next three months also showed a strong increase in August. Production prospects remained strong.

The effect of the epidemic started to decrease among the main determinants of expectations. Domestic and foreign demand indicators are becoming more and more effective. The high season continues in the sector and it is predicted that the expectations will continue to be positive with the increase in activities.
