The Republic of Turkey State Railways, in order to encourage the use of bicycles, which is an environmentally friendly and healthy means of transportation in today's conditions, has rearranged the rules and application principles of bicycle transportation, which will be accepted to be carried with passengers in city and intercity trains, in line with the demands.

Commuter Trains and Marmaray Trains

  • Except for Sundays and national holidays, bicycles will be carried on trains, except for the peak hours (peak hours) of 07.00-09.00 and 16.00-20.00, by accepting small hand luggage with the passenger, without any additional charge for transportation.
  • Bicycles will not be accepted on trains during passenger rush hours.
  • Bicycles will be accepted throughout the day on Sundays and national holidays when there is no passenger density.
  • Bicycles will be accepted to all wagons and must be transported in a way that does not hinder the passage of passengers in the spaces or intermediate spaces reserved for bicycle transport, if any.
  • Only one bicycle is allowed per passenger.
  • The owner of the bike is responsible for any damage and loss that may be caused to them and/or other passengers in elevators, escalators, trains and trains.
  • In areas with turnstiles, bicycle passes will be made from disabled turnstiles.
  • Loading, storing and unloading of the bikes on the train will be done by the owner of the bike.
    The owner of the bike is responsible for any damage to our enterprise, to themselves and/or other passengers.

  • Foldable bicycles that can fit in the compartment reserved for hand luggage in YHTs will be accepted as small hand luggage with the passenger and are carried free of charge.
  • It is strictly not allowed to transport non-foldable bicycles in YHTs.

Outline and Regional Trains

Only in trains that have a carriage or a carriage compartment in the train organization, non-foldable bicycles will be accepted as small hand luggage with the passengers and are carried free of charge.

  • On trains that do not have furgons in their organization, foldable bicycles that can fit in the luggage compartment will be accepted as small hand luggage with the passengers and are carried free of charge.
    The transport of bicycles that cannot be folded on these trains is strictly prohibited.
  • Only one bicycle is allowed per passenger.
  • In trains with a car or van compartment in the train organization, in cases where it is not possible to fit the unfoldable bicycles in their open form, the wheels and pedals should be removed and the size should be reduced by the passenger.
  • In all trains, the loading and unloading of bicycles on the train, their storage on the train will not disturb the passengers and will not hinder the passenger passages and will be ensured to be safe.
  • Bicycle owners are responsible for any damage they cause to themselves and/or other passengers.

TCDD reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of bicycle transport on trains.
