Record handling exceeding 1 million tons in Iskenderun
Tosyalı İskenderun Port, where more than 10% of the total cargo is handled in the Mediterranean Region, broke another record in the Mediterranean Region by exceeding 1 million tons in July in the loading and unloading process with road vehicles. In the first half of this year, a total of 64.174.204 tons of cargo was handled from the ports in the region. 30.034.891 tons of this cargo is general cargo and solid bulk, of which 3.094.407 tons (10,3%) were handled in Tosyalı İskenderun Port. In the first half of this year, more than 40 percent of the loading and unloading at the Iskenderun Port was carried out as foreign trade, while exports were made to many countries from Germany to the USA, from the Netherlands to England.
Capacity will more than double in Iskenderun with the second pier
In Tosyalı İskenderun Port, which has a total capacity of 7.500.000 tons/year and employs 400 people, services are provided to many regional companies as well as Holding companies. A second pier investment is being made by Tosyalı Holding at the port, where it is possible to berth 10 ships at the same time depending on the size of the ship. The second pier, which will be built in front of the 4 million-ton capacity steel mill, whose investment is ongoing, is planned to be completed in the first half of next year. With the commissioning of the second pier, the port will increase to a total annual capacity of 16 million tons. Tosyalı Holding's Iskenderun Port investment, with the connection line connected to the National Railway, which is being built integrated here; presents one of the current examples that enable combined rail, road and seaway transportation.
Algeria's largest port is also from Tosyalı.
In addition to Iskenderun, Tosyalı Holding operates the port in Algeria where 200.000 DWT vessels can be docked and discharged the fastest.
Prior to this investment, the highest tonnage of ships arriving at Algerian ports was 60.000 DWT, but now the capacity has more than tripled. In addition, thanks to the 12 km conveyor belt system, which is one of the longest lines in Europe, 4.000 tons of transportation can be made per hour from the port to the company's factory in Algeria without using any vehicle.
