Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said that they aim to increase the length of the divided road to over 2023 kilometers in 29 and said, "We plan to implement a total of 500 thousand 2035 kilometers of highway with a total of 13 projects until 3 with the Build-Operate-Transfer model."

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu spoke at the signing ceremony of the 19th Term Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding workplaces affiliated to the General Directorate of Highways.

Karaismailoğlu, stating that the signed collective bargaining agreement is closely related to over 19 workers, said, “Turkey, in terms of its geo-political location, is the most important country connecting Europe to Asia and located at the crossroads of the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Middle East and Caucasus. . That's why, with the investments we've made in the last 500 years, we are undertaking strategic projects to have a say in world trade.”

Noting that they are working hard to bring all modes of transportation to international standards in order to make Turkey a global logistics power and a leader in transportation, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the biggest effort was made by the workers.

WE MANAGED THE PANDEMIC PROCESS BETTER THAN MANY DEVELOPED COUNTRIES

Pointing out that the pandemic conditions are intensely experienced in Turkey as in the whole world, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu made the following assessments:

“Despite the epidemic, natural disasters and crises, as a requirement of being a 'social state', our social payments to businesses and our working brothers and sisters that were damaged continued to increase. I would like to emphasize that we managed the pandemic process much better than many developed countries. We stood by our workers who add value to our country with their efforts. As always, we have always kept the dialogue mechanisms open with our employee and employer representatives during the pandemic. As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we implemented the measures stipulated by the Ministry of Health at our 2 highway project construction sites across the country and continued our work without any problems. In this process, we have always felt your support behind us in the economic growth and development of our country and the completion of our projects on the promised date.”

WE INCREASED THE DIVERSE ROAD LENGTH TO OVER 28 KM

Underlining that as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, they made 1 trillion 115 billion lira transportation and communication investments during the AK Party governments, Karaismailoğlu said that the lion's share in the investments was 62 percent and 668,2 billion liras.

Transport Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “In the last 19 years, we have increased our divided road length from 6 thousand 100 kilometers to over 28 thousand 260 kilometers” and continued his words as follows:

“Our goal is; To increase our divided road length to over 2023 kilometers in 29. We added 500 kilometers to our highway length, which is 714 kilometers, and reached 809 kilometers. With the Build-Operate-Transfer model, we plan to implement 3 kilometers of highway with a total of 532 projects until 2023, and an additional 6 thousand 620 kilometers of highway with a total of 2035 projects until 13. We increased our total bridge and viaduct length, which was 3 kilometers before 726, to 2003 kilometers. We increased our tunnel length from 311 kilometers to 708 kilometers.”

Expressing that they are proud of putting the Northern Marmara and Ankara-Niğde Smart Highways into service, Karaismailoğlu underlined that the construction of Tekirdağ Malkara-Çanakkale Highway and Çanakkale Bridge is progressing rapidly.

WE CROWED IMPLIED MOUNTAINS WITH TUNNELS, DEEP VALLEYS WITH VIADUCES

Emphasizing that they cross the impenetrable mountains with tunnels and deep valleys with viaducts, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “We have always worked with the principle that 'service to the public is service to the right'. We have closed our ears to empty words. We have turned our way to works that will provide jobs and food to our people and light the future of our youth. Thus, we have implemented many mega projects in 19 years. With the strength we get from our fellow workers; Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Ankara-Niğde Highway, Begendik Stream Botan Bridge, Hasankeyf Bridge, Northern Marmara Highway, Kömürhan Bridge, Osman Gazi Bridge, Tohma Bridge, Zigana Tunnels we did. By God's grace, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge is next,” he said.

Noting that the roads and bridges built have revived employment, production, trade, development, and even education, culture and art activities, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “It adds vitality to the places it passes through. Our roads contribute to the export and growth of our country.”

“OUR COUNTRY HAS AVOIDED THE PANDEMIC AND STARTED THE DEVELOPMENT MOVEMENT AGAIN”

Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows:

“Our fellow workers, who shed a lot of sweat in the investments of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure throughout the country and in our businesses, have always been with us in forest fires and flood disasters. I would like to thank our workers and civil servant unions for their efforts and support in overcoming the pandemic process. The latest growth figures also show that; Our country got rid of the pandemic and started the development move again. Turkey, which grew by 2021 percent in the first quarter of 7, also achieved a growth rate of 21,7 percent in the second quarter. In this rising success, together with the investments of our Ministry, the efforts and contributions of our workers-employers, public and private sectors are great.”

9 SUBCONTRACTOR WORKERS JOIN THE STAFF

Noting that they are proud of ensuring that the workers working in the highways sector are transferred from subcontracting to permanent staff, Karaismailoğlu said that a total of 9 subcontracted workers have become permanent staff.

Underlining that they have made serious improvements in wages, Karaismailoğlu gave the following information:

“It is pleasing that our employees are not oppressed against inflation by the 19 percent wage increase in the first six months and the increases in the following periods in the 541th Term Enterprise Collective Bargaining Agreement, which was signed today and covers 19 thousand 12 friends. As we always emphasize; Turkey will develop with the labor of its workers and the determination of its people.”
