Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş has been named 'City' for his transparent management practices, especially projects that facilitate the lives of citizens in the Capital, and his vision of building Ankara as a metropolis equal to the great capitals of Europe and Asia, and his efforts to support the poor and disadvantaged segments of the society. He received the '2021 World Mayor's Capital Award' given by the Mayors Foundation.

Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who was previously deemed worthy of the transparency award by Transparency International and the Humanitarian Development Foundation, was the only one in Turkey and one of four mayors in Asia to be included in the 'World Mayor' candidate list, where 21 mayors from 32 countries were nominated. Mayor Yavaş, who answered the questions sent by those who voted for him after he made it to the final, was awarded the '18 World Mayor's Capital Award, ranking first among the mayors of 2021 capital cities.
