Toyota will race the new GR050 HYBRID hypercar at La Sarthe Circuit for the first time this year, after three consecutive Le Mans victories with the TS010 HYBRID race car. Toyota aims to add a new success to its success by continuing its winning streak with its new hypercar.
World Champions Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López will compete in Toyota's #21 GR22 HYBRID hypercar in the 89th 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will be held from August 7-010. These three drivers won the 6 Hours of Monza before coming to the biggest race of the season. However, Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima, who have won the last 3 years at La Sarthe, will be joined by Brendon Hartley, again last year's winner.

The Le Mans race is crucial to winning a world title, with double FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) points awarded. In addition to the competition in the hypercar category at Le Mans, as always, the struggle inherent in 24 Hours of Le Mans and the challenges of the track itself are part of the excitement. Le Mans truly stands out as a test of endurance, with around 25 gear changes in a typical race, 4 kilometers of driving at full throttle, and over 2 million wheel spins.
Toyota's preparations for this tough race date back to October of 2020. Having performed eight tests and three WEC races since then, the GR010 HYBRID hypercar has completed all its preparations for the 13.626 km La Sarthe Circuit.
The 1923 Hours of Le Mans race, which was held for the first time in 24, will be held this season with a reduced capacity of 50 thousand spectators, with the participation of 62 vehicles and 186 pilots.
