Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its urban transformation works without interruption with the principles of 100 percent consensus, on-site transformation and "Metropolitan assurance and guarantee", accelerated the construction works for the second phase, which includes 170 residences and 20 workplaces in the Ornekköy urban transformation area. 68 thousand square meters of green space
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor stated that the tender preparations for the other stages of the project are continuing. Tunç Soyer “When the project, which continues in stages in the 6-hectare Ornekköy Urban Transformation Area, where approximately 18 thousand people live, is completed, a total of 3 residences and 520 workplaces will have been built. Within the scope of the project, a two-storey new market area with an indoor area of 338 square meters, approximately 4 thousand square meters of open and closed parking areas for vehicles, a sports facility building with a closed area of 200 square meters and social areas will be built. At the same time, 30 thousand square meters of green space and 3 thousand square meters of social reinforcement area will be added to the area with the project. Because we aim both to ensure that citizens living in risky houses live in healthy buildings and to create livable urban areas. We continued to work uninterruptedly under pandemic conditions in order to make İzmir safe and to ensure that our citizens are in a healthier environment with green areas and social facilities.”
Process accelerated
Emphasizing that they are continuing their urban transformation works in six different regions, Mayor Soyer said, “We have taken a decision for İzmir Metropolitan Municipality companies to participate in the tenders in order to accelerate the urban transformation works. With the involvement of İZBETON, a subsidiary of the Metropolitan Municipality, in the process, we overcame the congestion in the market by accelerating the slowing down process in urban transformation projects. Thus, we were able to start the construction of a total of 200 independent units consisting of residences and workplaces in the second, third and fourth stages in Örnekköy.”
