Easy connection opportunities are provided from South Africa, as both airlines increase their cooperation to offer easier travel options.

Announcing that they are expanding their existing partnership with a unilateral codeshare agreement, Emirates and Airlink offer passengers easy access to destinations in 40 African countries with more than 12 domestic and regional flights on inbound and outbound flights to South Africa.

With a wide range of codeshare flights, Emirates' long-term partnership with South African Airways is strengthened as Emirates passengers gain access to transportation opportunities in Africa that no other airline can offer.

This move comes as Emirates continues its flights to South Africa and increases its operations to offer greater reach via Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. With the transportation opportunities provided by the new codeshare agreement between Emirates and Airlink, passengers will be able to benefit from uninterrupted baggage transfer opportunities thanks to competitive fares, combined tickets and flights offered by the two airlines.

Passengers traveling to South Africa now travel from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban to domestic destinations such as Bloemfontein, George, Upington, Nelspruit, Hoedspruit, Kimberley, Skukuza, Pietermaritzburg, Richards Bay, Sishen, Mthatha and Port Elizabeth. including Gaborone, Kasane, Vilanculos, Lubumbashi, Dar es Salaam, Entebbe, Maseru, Antananarivo, Pemba, Tete, Maun, Victoria Falls, Walvis Bay, Maputo, Windhoek, Harare, Lusaka, Ndola, Bulawayo and Livingstone in southern Africa. They will be able to transfer to many other cities.

Adnan Kazım, Emirates Airline Commercial Affairs Director, said: “Expanding the Emirates and Airlink partnership is an important step forward in the relationship between the two airlines. With the new codeshare agreement we signed, the services and flexibility we offer to our passengers traveling beyond our destinations in South Africa and the southern part of Africa increase, and unique holiday destinations are offered to these passengers. We are committed to expanding our operations in South Africa. We hope that we will help the local travel and tourism industry enter a rapid recovery process with the extensive travel opportunities we offer together with Airlink.”

Adnan Kazım continued his words as follows: “Our codeshare agreement with Airlink complements our valuable partnership with South African Airways, which we wish to continue once the airline is operational again.”

Rodger Foster, Airlink Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, said: “This exciting development is a huge win for Airlink. We are pleased and honored to have the privilege of choosing us as the South African partner of Emirates Airline. Together with Emirates, serving all of our source markets, we provide vital air access to Airlink's extensive network of destinations in southern Africa, and provide essential transport links connecting Africa to the world and the world to Africa. The sectors that were hit hardest by the pandemic and the closure and travel restrictions that came with it were tourism and air transport. With the expansion of vaccination worldwide, we expect suppressed travel demands to be activated and more passengers will want to visit the special destinations where Airlink offers travel services.”

Passengers can book online at emirates.com.tr or from local travel agencies for their trips with both airlines.

Emirates has increased its operations in South Africa. The airline is confidently continuing to rebuild its global network and reinvigorate demand in the market by providing its passengers with access to and via Dubai from 120 global destinations. The airline also continues to expand its presence in South Africa and the South of Africa by building strong relationships with airline partners such as Airlink, and providing its passengers with more transportation options and a good experience.
