Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said, “As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we have responded to all needs that can be met by air, land and sea as soon as possible. Right after the flood, we started to open our closed roads by working 7 days and 24 hours. With the work we have done so far, we have completely repaired the damages on all road sections.”
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a statement to the press at the Disaster Coordination Center Meeting in Sinop today. Stating that there were fires in the Mediterranean and floods in the Western Black Sea region, Minister Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the state was with the nation by producing fast and effective solutions with all the means in the cities where disasters were experienced.
Stating that as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, they responded as soon as possible to all needs that can be met from air, land and sea, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “We rushed to the aid of our regions, almost in a national mobilization spirit. I congratulate our August 99 Victory Day, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. We commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades in gratitude, who gave us this victory; I wish God's mercy to all our martyrs and veterans," he said.
A solution was produced for transportation needs in 18 hours in Ayancık
Reminding that during the flood disasters, damages occurred on 200-kilometer road sections in Kastamonu, Bartın and Sinop provinces, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that they repaired the damages on all road sections with the works that started right after the flood.
Karaismailoğlu, who gave information about the works carried out in the provinces where the disaster occurred, said, “In Sinop; Damage occurred in a total of 564 kilometers of our 70 kilometers road network. In our works to date, maintenance and repair works on the roads have been completed and our roads have been opened to traffic completely, and the improvement works are continuing. After the flood, we started to work to put the transportation into service immediately in our Ayancık district, which turned into an island after all the bridges on the Ayancık Stream were damaged. With the works of our General Directorate of Highways and General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, we opened the steel bridge, which was assembled by the Turkish Armed Forces, to traffic in the region where the filling and fortifications were prepared. Again, by using box culverts on Ayancık Stream, we put the crossing, which allows two-way vehicle traffic and allows pedestrian crossing, into service in as little as 18 hours. In addition, we have completed the work in the field determined within the industry for the workplaces that will temporarily serve until the permanent buildings are built in the Ayancık Industrial Zone.”
Traces of the disaster are quickly being erased in Kastamonu
Karaismailoğlu, who gave information about the works carried out in Kastamonu, spoke as follows:
“In Kastamonu; Damage occurred in 553 kilometers of 10 roads with a length of 75 kilometers. With the works carried out so far, maintenance and repair works have been completed on the 75-kilometer-long roads, and 10 of our roads have been fully opened to traffic, and improvement works continue. Again, on the road connecting Çatalzeytin -Türkeli districts, a temporary bridge was built on 2 August by placing temporary 2×18 prefabricated culverts instead of the destroyed Çatalzeytin bridge and opened to traffic. With the outstanding efforts of our teams and a great spirit of solidarity, the state and the nation, hand in hand, are erasing the traces of the disaster in Kastamonu, one of our cities where the flood disaster was experienced.”
“The smile on the face of our nation and their prayers are the most precious reward for us”
Continuing his speech by informing the public about the works carried out in Bartın, Karaismailoğlu continued his words as follows:
“Due to the flood disaster in Bartın, 111 kilometers of 3 roads of 50 kilometers were damaged. All of the damages have been repaired with the works we have done, and the entire 111-kilometer road section has been opened to traffic. In place of our Kumluca-21 Bridge on the 2st kilometer of our Kozcagiz-Kumluca-Abdipaşa Provincial road, which was destroyed due to the flood, a temporary panel Steel Bridge was put into service. We wrote the story of brotherhood in the Western Black Sea during these difficult days when we once again understood the value of solidarity and unity. The smile on the face of our nation and their prayers are the most precious reward for us.”
Pointing out that they have completed the plans of the permanent projects of all the roads damaged by the flood and have started their construction, Minister Karismailoğlu said, "We aim to complete the permanent ones in a short time like 2 months, instead of our temporary bridges that we quickly put into service."
“We ensured the safety of the navigation of the sea vehicles and the safety of our fishermen to carry out their activities”
Karaismailoğlu noted that right after the flood disaster, they took our citizens from the places where they were stranded and transported them to safe areas by air and seaway, Karaismailoğlu said, “After the flood disaster, we brought a car ferry to the region for the evacuation of our citizens in Sinop Ayancık and Türkeli with their vehicles. We safely transported our citizens with their vehicles to Kastamonu's İnebolu Port with the car ferry with an average capacity of 50 vehicles. On the other hand, we brought our citizens, who wished, with their families and loved ones, with our helicopters, until the transition between Türkeli and Çatalzeytin. In addition, we collected the logs carried to the sea by the flood using the net system, which was realized for the first time with our tugboats. In this way, we ensured the safety of the navigation of the sea vehicles and the safety of our fishermen to carry out their activities”.
“We will open our permanent structures together as soon as possible”
“As the hand of the state, we continue to stand by our people in all circumstances and situations. We derive our strength, energy and motivation from the patience, support and love of our people from the first day of the disaster," Minister Karaismailoğlu concluded his words as follows:
“Once again, I wish God's mercy on our citizens who lost their lives in the flood, and my condolences to their grieving families. I wish a speedy recovery to our injured citizens. We are fulfilling all those who went except for the loss of life. I promise here; We will rebuild our permanent roads, bridges, buildings and art structures as soon as possible and we will realize the opening of them together. Under the leadership of our Honorable President, all of our ministries will rapidly continue their work here in coordination. We, as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, will continue to stand by you with all our units and teams, and continue to work with the strength we derive from our unity.”
Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, who came to Ayancık at noon, first made examinations at Pazarcık Special Education Vocational High School. Later, Minister Karaismailoğlu, who visited the Ayancık industrial site, went to the Ayancık Market Area and met with the citizens.
