How to do hair transplantation? Is pain felt during the application?

Hair transplantation is the process of transplanting the hairless area one by one, from the over-flexed and above-ear areas in our patients with sufficient donor density. Since local anesthesia is applied before the operation, patients do not feel pain or pain.

What are the methods used in hair transplantation?

Three technical methods are used in hair transplantation. FUT method with surgical incision is actually a method that is not preferred much today. DHI and FUE methods are more preferred. The FUE method is the process of planting the previously taken grafts with forceps into the channels opened with the help of a sapphire pen. In the DHI method, by attaching the previously taken grafts to the choi pens; both the canal is opened and the grafts are left inside the hair root. The method of hair transplantation is determined by interviewing the patient, taking into account issues such as the patient's donor area density and balding area.

What should be the expectation after hair transplantation?

After the hair transplantation process, a crusting starts immediately in the transplantation area. The crusting process can take approximately 15 days. After this process, the crusts begin to fall off and hair begins to grow in its place. In the first place, the hair that usually comes out with thin strands comes out as thick strands after the phase we call shock shedding. In fact, these are the new hairs that the patient will use. This usually happens by the 3rd month. These hairs continue to grow by becoming denser and denser. In general, the results begin to be seen in the 7th and 8th months. Hair continues to grow up to 12 months.

When is it possible to enter the pool, sea and sauna after hair transplantation?

For these activities, the crusts formed after the operation should be removed, and even another 15 days should be waited. In other words, after 1 month in total, you can enter the pool, sea and sauna. The reason why we recommend the pool and the sea in this process is the risk of infection.

Is hair transplantation done to women?

Hair transplantation for women is performed if there is no thyroid dysfunction. In our female patients with thyroid dysfunction, a step should be taken to solve this problem first. Afterwards, hair transplantation can be done. We generally recommend unshaven FUE and DHI methods for female patients. Because female patients have long hair, they are not required to have problems with the visual appearance of the donor area for two or three days after the operation. During the operation, the long hair on the back is collected, then released; so that the donor area remains at the bottom, the crusts in between are not visible. From this point of view, female patients are even considered more advantageous than men in terms of aesthetic appearance.
