The works initiated by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality on Halit Ziya Boulevard in order to prevent flooding in the Kemeraltı region and to strengthen the infrastructure of the region have been completed. The boulevard was reopened to traffic after asphalting works yesterday evening.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has completed the works on Halit Ziya Boulevard within the scope of the First Stage Belt Infrastructure Project, which it carries out to prevent flooding in the Kemeraltı region during heavy rainfall and to strengthen the infrastructure of the region. The boulevard was opened to traffic yesterday (August 12, Thursday) in the evening after the asphalting works.

What was done?

The teams renewed the rain water, sewerage and drinking water lines on Halit Ziya Boulevard. The teams, who worked day and night to open the road to traffic, finished the asphalting works after the concrete production. The pavement productions will be completed at the end of the month.

Delayed due to historical artifacts

Archaeologists of the Izmir Museum Directorate gathered all the data on the covered bazaar on the boulevard, which was carried out under the supervision of the Museum Directorate and was delayed by the decision of the Izmir No. 300 Cultural Heritage Conservation Regional Board due to the discovery of the remains of the 1-year-old Çakı Han Bedesten. The remains were placed in their former place and covered.
