Fenerbahce Ferry Repaired by IMM is at Rahmi M. Koç Museum Again

The Fenerbahçe Ferry, which was sent off from the Golden Horn Shipyard after its maintenance and repair operations, took its place in the Rahmi M. Koç Museum again. Fenerbahçe and Paşabahçe, one of the iconic ferries of Istanbul, came together in Tersane after many years.

Fenerbahçe Ferry, whose maintenance and repair processes were completed, was sent to the Koç Museum. Haliç Shipyard witnessed a historical moment yesterday. Having served together for years in the waters of Istanbul, Fenerbahçe and Paşabahçe ferries came together years later.

MAINTENANCE OF FENERBAHÇE FERRY HAS BEEN COMPLETED

The maintenance and repair works of the Fenerbahçe Ferry, which has been on display at the Rahmi M. Koç Museum for ten years as the 'Museum Ferry', at the Golden Horn Shipyard have been completed. Fenerbahce, which was taken into the pool on June 28, 2021, performed underwater sheet replacement, painting, propeller removal, maintenance of deck and terrace floor trees, replacement of handrails, and general maintenance and repair. Fenerbahçe returned to the Rahmi M. Koç Museum on the shore of Hasköy.

COOPERATION PROTOCOL EXTENDED

The Fenerbahçe Ferry, which retired after making its last farewell tour on December 22, 2008, was transferred to the Museum with the cooperation protocol signed between the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and the Rahmi M. Koç Museum. IMM, which undertook all the maintenance and repair operations, carried out the maintenance operations at the Haliç Shipyard in 2011 and sent Fenerbahçe to the Museum. Extending the cooperation protocol, IMM took the Ferry back into maintenance ten years later.

OVER HALF A CENTURY SERVICE

Paşabahçe, Dolmabahçe and Fenerbahçe ferries have served Istanbul residents for many years. Fenerbahçe retired in 2008 and Paşabahçe in 2010. Fenerbahçe carried passengers between the piers for 55 years and Paşabahçe for 58 years. After the maintenance in 2011, Fenerbahçe started to serve as the 'Museum Ferry' at the Koç Museum, while Paşabahçe was abandoned to its fate off the coast of Beykoz. Pasabahce, which was restored in the Golden Horn Shipyard in 2020, is counting the days to meet its passengers again. Unfortunately, Dolmabahçe did not survive until today.
