Antalya Metropolitan Municipality will demolish and rebuild the Karaman and Kuruçay bridges on Hürriyet Street, which connects many neighborhoods such as Çakırlar, Doyran, Bahti, Karatepe and Geyikbayırı to the center of the city. Within the scope of the work, the demolition of the Karaman Bridge has begun. A new 8-meter-wide bridge will be built in place of the 14,5-meter-wide bridge, which was built many years ago and was insufficient to handle the current traffic load. With the new bridge, both traffic safety and pedestrians are comfortable.

The Karaman and Kuruçay bridges on the Çakırlar road, which is on the transit route of heavy tonnage vehicles and where the traffic density is high, will be rebuilt by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality. The demolition of the 8-meter-wide Karaman bridge has begun. Within the scope of the new bridge construction carried out by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, a secondary road was created 30 meters ahead of the old bridge in order not to disrupt the traffic.

DOES NOT MEET PERFORMANCE CONDITIONS

Since the road on Hürriyet Street is a route that will serve traffic, general security and tourism for many years, it was understood in the performance analysis made by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality that the Karaman Bridge does not meet the demanded performance conditions in its current state. It was also revealed as a result of the investigation that the bridge would endanger traffic safety if it is not reinforced. Since it was understood that the repair and strengthening of the bridge structure would cost more than building a new one, it was decided to build a new bridge.

WAY CREATED

In order to start the construction of the new bridge as soon as possible, the demolition of the Karaman Bridge was started by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality teams. The bridge is planned to be completed and opened to traffic before the heavy rainy months begin. During the construction of this bridge, a secondary road was created on the side of the old bridge so that the traffic could continue without interruption.
