11 metropolitan mayors have separately submitted their petitions to the Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK), stating that they are ready to meet all the maintenance and operating expenses of the firefighting aircraft. While Turkey's fight against forest fires on the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts has been going on for 8 days without interruption, a call "We are Ready to Activate Planes" came from 11 Metropolitan Municipalities regarding the THK planes that could not be used in extinguishing works. After this call made yesterday to increase the aerial response capability and power of the works, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu Presidents, including Presidents, took their first steps. They signed their petitions, which showed their readiness for cooperation and addressed to the President of the Turkish Aeronautical Association, Cenap Aşçı, and forwarded them to the institution separately.

“As it is known, as the Metropolitan Mayors of our 11 cities, which have a very important population and forest assets in Turkey, as one of the urgent measures to be taken against forest fires, which are still being experienced and are expected to occur frequently in the coming period due to the climate crisis, we We have shared with the public of our country that we are ready to meet all the maintenance and operating expenses of fire extinguishers.
In addition, we will be ready to use the fire extinguishing aircraft, which will be reactivated by 11 Metropolitan Municipalities, for use by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry whenever necessary, in coordination with the Turkish Aeronautical Association, making the use of the inventory in the hands of the institution continuous by our municipalities, repairing the existing aircraft, We have declared that we are ready to establish sustainable relations in terms of maintenance, repair, even expansion of the fleet and receiving service from this fleet, to the extent permitted by legislation and laws.
While Turkey is in a fire disaster and our citizens are struggling to cope with this disaster with extraordinary devotion, all public institutions are obliged to use their cooperation opportunities to the fullest and integrate their power and resources. It should be our priority to extinguish existing fires and maximize our preparation for possible new fires as quickly as possible and to manage a mobilization within this scope.
The attitude of the 11 Metropolitan Municipality regarding the aircraft of the Turkish Aeronautical Association is the result of this point of view. In addition, pursuant to Article 5393 of the Municipal Law No. 75 titled “Relations with Other Organizations”, Municipalities have the right and authority to realize joint service projects with “Associations working in the public interest” in matters falling under their duties and responsibilities.
In this respect; Declares that we are ready for all necessary business and transactions regarding cooperation between our 5393 Metropolitan Municipality Directorates and the Turkish Aeronautical Association, an association working for the public interest, in accordance with subparagraph c of Article 75 of the Municipal Law No. 11; Based on the urgency of the issue, we kindly request that we be informed so that the place and date of the first meeting, where the authorities of our Municipality and your Institution will come together, to determine the framework of cooperation and to prepare a protocol, can be quickly determined.”

In the same process, 11 presidents separately submitted their petitions to the institution, addressed to the President of THK Institution, Cenap Aşçı.
