The National Electric Train Set Launch Ceremony was held in Sakarya with the participation of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who attended the ceremony via live connection. The first domestic and nationally produced electric train sets took off upon the instructions of President Erdogan, who opened the "Sakarya Maternity and Children's Hospital" in Sakarya at the same time.
Making a short speech at the ceremony, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “Mr. President, we greet you from the Sakarya factory of Turkey Rail Systems Joint Stock Company. We are starting the final tests of our first domestically and nationally produced electric train set in our country”. President Erdoğan wished the first electric train sets produced locally and nationally in the country to be beneficial and auspicious for the country and the nation.
The program came to an end after the departure of the first domestically and nationally produced electric train sets upon the instructions of President Erdoğan.
TÜRASAŞ has become a world brand
TÜLOMSAŞ, TÜDEMSAŞ and TÜVASAŞ, three important companies that produce different parts of rail system vehicles in Turkey, were merged under the umbrella of TÜRASAŞ with the Presidential decision dated March 4, 2020. With this reform movement, our country gained a new momentum and synergy in the rail system production processes. TÜRASAŞ has become a world brand today with its capacity to meet the needs of foreign countries as well as meet the needs of our country. Our first National Electric Train Set also went down in history, becoming the biggest proof of how much progress our national railway industry has made. These vehicles, which are produced in our Aluminum Body Production Facility, which we have established within the structure of TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate, are produced with Aluminum Body, which is different from the conventional wagons we have produced so far.
In mass production, 75 percent locality is targeted
The National Electric Train Sets, designed according to international standards, successfully completed the factory tests last year and started road tests and completed the tests without any problems and achieved great success in the project.
National Electric Train Sets were produced with an aluminum body to have an operating speed of 160 kilometers per hour. While 65 percent locality was achieved in prototype production, 75 percent locality was targeted in mass production. Vehicle bodies are produced from aluminum extrusion profiles, designed to be resistant to loads that may occur during operation, impacts and collisions in case of any accident. National Electric Train Sets have the features to meet the demands and expectations at a high level in terms of passenger satisfaction and comfort, with the safety of navigation at the forefront. Following the completion of the certification processes at the end of 2021, passenger transportation will begin and by the end of the year, our nation will be able to travel with national electric sets. TCDD Transportation Inc. 2022 sets in 4, 2023 sets in 15, and a total of 2025 sets until 56 will be delivered within the scope of the protocol signed with the company.
