Macan, the compact class SUV model family that Porsche first introduced to the market in 2014; here with comprehensive improvements in terms of design features, comfort, connectivity and driving dynamics.
Porsche offers the new Macan model, which has a superior performance, sharper design and a new operating concept compared to the previous generation, in 3 different versions.
The 2.9-liter V6 twin-turbo engine of the Macan GTS now produces 324 kW (440 PS), a performance increase of 44 kW (60 PS) compared to its predecessor. With the Sport Chrono package, the model has a top speed of 272 km/h within the scope of high performance specific to Porsche GTS models and accelerates to 0-100 km/h in 4,3 seconds.
The Macan S is powered by a 280-liter V380 twin-turbo engine that produces 20 kW (26 PS) and 2.9 kW (6 PS) more than the previous generation. This feature allows the vehicle to accelerate from standstill to 4,6 km/h in 100 seconds, while allowing it to accelerate up to 259 km/h.
The newly developed, turbocharged 195-cylinder engine with 265 kW (4PS) represents the entry into the world of Macan. This new engine performs the standard 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6,2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 232 km/h.
All engines are equipped with a seven-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and Porsche active all-wheel drive system (Porsche Traction Management – PTM).
Optimized body – new sports air suspension for the GTS
The new Macan models also offer a wide suspension bandwidth, balancing sports car performance with maximum suspension comfort. In this context, with its optimized body, the Macan now responds more precisely and more directly to the driving situation and road conditions. Thus, the driver can get faster and better response from the steering wheel. Components such as the damping properties of the Porsche Active Suspension Management (Porsche Active Suspension Management - PASM) system have been specially adapted to the new Macan family in line with this goal. The PASM system, which is optional for the Macan and offered as standard equipment on the S and GTS models, actively and continuously controls the damping force of each wheel.
The sports air suspension, which is offered as standard in the new Macan GTS model and lowers the body by 10 millimeters, provides an advantage by being 10 percent stiffer on the front axle and 15 percent tighter on the rear axle compared to the previous generation. The optional GTS Sport Package further increases the dynamic potential of the vehicle with 21-inch GT design wheels with performance wheels, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and Sport Chrono Package.
An even sharper design with a sporty focus
Porsche has sharpened the look of the Macan with a series of special touches. The body-coloured front has been redesigned, emphasizing the width of the Macan, making the vehicle look even more magnificent on the road. The nose part of the new GTS model is covered with black. The rear part has a more curvy look towards the road with a striking diffuser obtained with a special design technique. There is a new 3D structure available as an option for the side wings of the vehicle, both at the rear and at the front end. Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and LED headlights and Sport Design exterior mirrors are now standard on all models.
The new Macan is available in a total of 14 colours, including new Papaya Metallic and Gentian Blue Metallic, and Python Green for the Macan GTS with the GTS Sport package. With its Individual Color and Paint to Sample options, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur significantly expands design freedom for the Macan. Wider wheels are also now standard equipment and are available in at least 19 inches for the Macan, 20 inches for the Macan S and 21 inches for the Macan GTS. In total, seven new wheel designs are added to the series.
New center console with touchscreen
The new Porsche Macan offers a significantly improved interior design with its modern and stylishly designed center console. A new operating concept that uses touchpads instead of buttons brings order to the cockpit. In the middle of the clearly arranged control module is the new, shorter gear. The analog clock on the instrument panel is now standard equipment. A range of leather upholstery and contrast stitching in Gentian Blue, Papaya or Chalk is now available as an option to add new color accents to the interior. The Macan continues to offer many online functions as standard equipment, which can be controlled via the 10.9-inch full HD touchscreen of Porsche Communications Management or with voice commands. It also features the GT Sport steering wheel of the 911 model with a new multi-function steering wheel.
Apart from the dynamic effects and black accents on the exterior, the GTS Sport package, available only for the top model, also includes 18-way sports seats for the interior, the carbon interior package, Race-Tex upholstery with more leather extensions, various parts with contrast stitching and in Python It covers many special equipment such as the GTS lettering.
New Porsche Macan open to order
Since its first launch in 2014, 600 thousand units have been sold all over the world, the Macan has a special mission for Porsche: About 80 percent of customers who buy Macan are buying Porsche for the first time. In addition, the number of women buying Macan has increased steadily in recent years, reaching the highest level of all Porsche models. Almost 60 percent of buyers in China, the market where Macan is most in demand, are women.
Porsche Sales and Marketing Manager Selim Eskinazi said, “When we look at the female user rates in Turkey, the situation is not much different. Macan maintains its claim when it comes to comfort; When we look at the individual Porsche sales in 2020, the rate of female users is 34%, while the Macan has a rate of 67 percent on a model basis and ranks first as the most preferred Porsche model by women.
