Alper Kurt: “The effect of the pandemic is decreasing in truck production and exports”

Alper Kurt, Mercedes-Benz Turkish Truck Marketing and Sales Director; “Despite the pandemic, the effects of which we started to feel in March 2020, we once again became the leader of the Turkish truck market by increasing our truck sales by 2019 percent compared to 141 and reaching 6.932 units. In the first half of the year between January and June 2021, we can say that the impact of the pandemic on truck production and exports has decreased. By exporting 2021 trucks between January and June 6.399, we achieved a 100% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. In the first 2021 months of 6, we achieved an increase of 5.451 percent with our sales of 165 units compared to the same period of the previous year.

Alper Kurt also talked about after-sales services and R&D activities in addition to production, sales and exports; “In order to provide uninterrupted service to our customers during the pandemic period, our after-sales service network started to serve 7 hours a day, 24 days a week. In 2021, we continued these services, which we offer so that life can continue uninterruptedly. Thanks to this application, which was met with great satisfaction by our customers, we both strengthened our ties with our existing business partners and reached more new customers. We have also started to offer our TruckParts products, which are determined, tested and approved according to Mercedes-Benz standards, at affordable prices. We have strengthened our position in global competition by adding new ones to our responsibilities in the field of R&D every day.” said.

In the center, which can work simultaneously with truck production and R&D centers all over the world, the effects that can only be observed after 10 years of intense use on vehicles with a "Digital Twin" in the virtual environment can be simulated in just a few months, and vehicles can be designed to be ready for this beforehand.

Aksaray R&D Center, which was put into operation within the body of Aksaray Truck Factory with an investment of 2018 million Euros in 8,4 due to the global additional responsibilities undertaken for the truck product group, continues to be the only road test approval authority for Mercedes-Benz trucks all over the world. Thanks to Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality technologies, R&D engineers working all over the world within the Daimler global network can work together at the same time. By contributing to Turkey's achievements in engineering exports, the position of both Turkey and Aksaray is strengthened.
