Within the scope of the 'Revival of Historical Artifacts' project by the Mayor of Kağıthane Mevlüt Öztekin, the Historical Kağıthane Train, a relic of the past, meets the future.
Also known as the 'Kağıthane Train' in history, the Golden Horn-Black Sea Field Line, which was used to transport coal during the World War I and arms to Anatolia during the War of Independence, comes to life again with a nostalgic train after 1 years.
The test drives of the nostalgic train have been completed.
Kağıthane Municipality has revived a part of the Golden Horn-Black Sea Sahara Line, which originally exceeded 60 kilometers, within the borders of Kağıthane. Kağıthane Train is 3 kilometers long; Mecidiyeköy- Kağıthane- Mahmutbey and Gayrettepe- Kağıthane- Airport will provide integrated service to the metro lines. There will be 4 stops on the Kağıthane Train route.
It will start serving in August
Kagithane Mayor Mevlüt Öztekin, who carried out the test drive of the train, said, “As part of our historical revival works, Kağıthane Train will be at the service of our people in August. On the line starting from Silahtarağa Bilgi University and ending in Kağıthane Merkez; Our nostalgic looking train, consisting of 2 wagons and 2 locomotives, was produced by Turkish engineers with completely domestic and national facilities. Despite its nostalgic appearance, it is environmentally friendly. It is powered by solar energy and works entirely on electricity. It does not emit carbon. It meets the green step criteria. We will unearth this cultural heritage after 100 years and present it to the younger generations. It will contribute to the knowledge of the culture and history of our district," he said.
Kagithane Municipality council members also participated in the test drive of the nostalgic train. President Öztekin went to the locomotive of the train and examined the test drive in person.
