Direct flights from Gaziantep to Europe started. Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Fatma Şahin, who sent off the passengers going to Paris, the capital of France, from Gaziantep Airport with flowers, gave the good news that London, the capital of England, will be included in direct flights soon.

Berlin, Hannover, Cologne, Stuttgart, Zurich, Basel in Switzerland and Paris, the capital of France, were included in direct flights from Gaziantep to Duesseldorf and Frankfurt in Germany as of 27 June. At Gaziantep Airport, Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin, Gaziantep AK Party Deputy Mehmet Sait Kirazoğlu and Gaziantep Nationalist Movement Party Deputy Muhittin Taşdoğan bid farewell to the first passengers flying directly to Paris, the capital of France, with flowers. Making a statement at the airport, President Şahin stated that they aim to bring foreign tourists to Gaziantep and said that direct flights will be provided to London, the capital of England, in the near future.

On the other hand, the tradition applied in the first flights was continued and the Paris plane took off with the water show of the fire crews.

Speaking at the airport, Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin stated that they witnessed a very important moment today and said, “We have realized our national struggle during the pandemic process. A new world is now being established. We are the city that is most ready for the process after the epidemic. We are the most ready region, we are the most ready country. We have completed our facilities. Together with our promotions, we now want millions of people to come to the region. When millions of people come to the region, they will have the chance to see cultural and historical sites here. We are also the capital of healthy taste. We say we have taste in our mouth. European tourist was one of our priority targets. Direct flights were very important to us. Direct flights to the capitals began. Our goal is to provide direct flights with the UK. Subsequently, we want to achieve the same goal for Asian tourists," he said.
