Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu examined the Afyonkarahisar-Şuhut Road construction works within the scope of the Afyon program. Expressing that they pay attention to every project that will strengthen the transportation network of Afyon, Karaismailoğlu said, “We invested 2003 billion 2020 million TL between 6 and 440 for the road works of Afyon. Before 2003, there were 54 kilometers of divided roads; We increased it to 577 kilometers. Afyon; We connected Konya, Eskişehir, Denizli, Isparta, Kütahya and Uşak with divided roads. As of today, we continue with 1 highway projects with a total project amount of 154 billion 6 million liras.

Minister Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the Afyonkarahisar-Şuhut road is heavily used by heavy vehicles and that it is an important route with an average daily traffic of more than 4 thousand and gave the following information about the road construction works:

“We are re-designing this road, which is in the standard of a single road with a surface pavement, improving its physical and geometric standards and building it as a BSK paved divided road. The length of our road is 21,6 kilometers. We made the tender for the 11,8 kilometer section, which could not be completed within the scope of the current tender, and the work was started on May 5, 2021, with the delivery of the workplace. For the remaining part, we work intensively on earthworks and engineering structures with 17 excavators and 25 trucks. We plan to complete the entire project in November 2022. When the road is completed, horizontal and vertical standards will rise on the route, and road users will be offered safe and comfortable travel opportunities. It will shorten travel time, save time and fuel. It will contribute to the development of regional tourism and further mobilize trade activities.”

Minister Karaismailoğlu, who stated that they will complete the ongoing works in Afyon as soon as possible and put them at the service of Afyon residents, said, “We are continuing our investments, communication and transportation investments, not only in Afyonkarahisar, but also in all four corners of our country. As you know, we are working to 'Connect the World to Turkey' with our giant projects such as Kanal Istanbul, whose first bridge we have recently laid together with our President. On the other hand, we both connect our cities and integrate all transportation modes in accordance with our country's 'Holistic Development' targets. Thus, we offer an uninterrupted, safe and comfortable service to our people in freight, data and human transportation.”

Minister Karaismailoğlu also visited Ayazini Village, Bolvadin Kırkgöz Bridge and Emre Lake as part of the Afyon program.
