Within the scope of the project, ABB will provide high-power charging infrastructure for the fleet, which is expected to have 1.000 electric buses across the country and a daily capacity of 50.000 passengers.
Qatar aims to increase its electric public bus network to 1 percent within a year and to 25 percent by 2030. As part of this plan, the Qatari government has made the decision to create one of the world's largest e-bus networks with ABB.
Partnering with Mannai Trading Company, Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' and fleet operator Mowasalat, ABB will design and distribute Heavy Vehicle Charging equipment at multiple locations in Qatar, including four bus depots, eight bus stations and 12 metro stations. . The project scope will also include a three-year service level agreement.

ABB will supply over 125 MW of charging capacity for the project, 1.300 connectors for target charging and 89 chargers, four of which are mobile. With this charging infrastructure solution, the entire Mowasalat fleet of electric buses can be charged overnight while parked or in use without affecting normal operations. In other words, a fast and comfortable charging experience will be provided for operators and passengers.
ABB will also provide data connectivity and interfaces to connect and integrate charging infrastructure operation into the Mowasalat Fleet Management System for 7/24 fleet optimization. In addition to integration with the Fleet Management System, the chargers will also be connected to the ABB Ability™ cloud to remotely monitor and diagnose infrastructure using over 400 parameters. This complete solution will provide reliable infrastructure for users, maximizing uptime and efficiency.
