TCDD General Manager Ali İhsan Uygun, UIC General Manager François Davenne, UIC Africa Regional Board President and Moroccan Railways General Manager Mohamed Rabie Khlie, instead of UIC Asia-Pacific Regional Board President Lu Dongfu and China Railways Vice President Li Wenxin, UIC European Regional Board Cardoso Dos Reis, Chairman and Member of the Portuguese Railways Board of Directors, UIC North America Regional Board President and US Department of Transportation, International Programs Manager Barbara Klein Barr, Latin America Regional Board President Guilherme Quintella, UIC department managers and IRRB officials.

The main agenda items such as developments on the development of regional cooperation, the presentation of the UIC Technical Report on the post-Covid-19 business resumption, the presentation of the activities of the International Railway Research Board (IRRB) and the next meeting calendar were discussed.

The subject was followed up by presenting the activities carried out and planned for the development of regional and interregional cooperation. On the normalization process of railways after the pandemic, the Post-Covid-19 “new normal” White Paper was presented, containing recommendations for railway train operators, infrastructure managers, stations, transport authorities and supply chains. A presentation was made about the structure and activities of the International Railway Research Board.

Stating that the principle of unity-solidarity-universality has always been maintained in the International Union of Railways (UIC), TCDD General Manager Ali İhsan Uygun said, “My duty at UIC, where I have been the Vice President for a long time, has come to an end. Here we have made good gains for the railways. We will always continue to do my best for our union. Considering the needs of all regions, we will take steps in this direction and continue to support all kinds of initiatives that will strengthen inter-regional interaction and cooperation. We are attending a very important meeting today. We listened to our cooperation, activities and the recommendations of our stakeholders for the railways. We will realize projects by getting good feedback.”

At the end of the meeting, information about the Regional Board Presidents meetings for the next term was conveyed to the participants.
