Presidential Decree on changing the name of Erzincan Airport to Erzincan Yıldırım Akbulut Airport was published in the Official Gazette.

Erzincan Airport was named after Yıldırım Akbulut, Former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Prime Minister, Member of the Presidential High Advisory Board (YİK), who passed away last April.

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced at the parliamentary group meeting of his party on April 14, 2021 that Akbulut, who passed away on April 21, 2021, would be named after Erzincan Airport.

Erdoğan said, “For our nation, Erzincan Airport will be referred to as Erzincan Yıldırım Akbulut Airport from now on. For this, I would also like to thank Mr. Binali Yıldırım.”

President Erdoğan's decision on the subject entered into force after being published in today's issue of the Official Gazette.

The airport, which was put into service in 1988, has a domestic terminal built on a total area of ​​4 million square meters and has an annual passenger capacity of 3 million.
