Karaismailoğlu said, “In the coming days, we will open the İkizdere Tunnel and the Salarha Tunnel with the participation of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. While erasing the traces of the flood disaster, we are completing our major projects in the region one by one. I hope we will realize the regional development in every point of Turkey together," he said.
Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, who has been in the region since the first moments of the flood disaster, pointed out that the traces of the flood disaster will be completely erased next week, and said, "Ten days ago, rains that caused flooding in Rize and then in Arhavi came. In order not to experience these disasters again, we are working together with all our institutions with the spirit of mobilization. Hopefully next week we will erase the traces of the disaster. As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we have important and large investments in the region. On the one hand, we continue these projects. We held our first meeting today in İkizdere tunnel. We are now at the final stage of our tunnels between Iyidere and Ikizdere. We plan to open these tunnels in the coming days," he said.
“We connect an important corridor from Iyidere to Erzurum”
Minister Karaimsialoğlu, who stated that an important corridor from Iyidere to Erzurum will be completed with the completion of the ongoing tunnel constructions in the region, said, “With the completion of the Ovit Tunnel and İkizdere Tunnels, there will be a shortening of approximately 50 kilometers in the travel length. With the connection of this road corridor to Iyidere Logistics Port, a very important corridor will be connected from the north to the south in terms of logistics and transportation.”
Salarha Tunnel will shorten travel time by 25 minutes
Pointing out that the Salarha Tunnel is important for the transportation between the center of Rize and the Salarha Valley, Minister Karaismailoğlu reminded that a tube of the tunnel was opened recently and spoke as follows:
“In the coming days, we will open the İkizdere Tunnel and the Salarha Tunnel with the participation of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Salarha Tunnel is a very important project for Rize center to reach Salarha Valley. Our tunnel shortens the road by approximately 9 km and saves approximately 25 minutes in travel time. While erasing the traces of the flood disaster, we are completing our major projects in the region one by one. Hopefully, we will realize the regional development in every point of Turkey together.”
Minister Karaimsialoğlu first visited the Iyidere Ayrım İkizdere Road Construction Control Chief in Rize and received a briefing here. Afterwards, he examined the works in the Salarha Tunnel and made important statements here. Afterwards, Minister Karaismailoğlu visited Arhavi Youth Center and met with the headmen, together with the Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu and Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli.
