President Ekrem İmamoğlu announced that they will plant 1 million 85 thousand saplings in the fire zones on behalf of IMM and its subsidiaries. IMM Park and Gardens Department, which has started work on the type, time and place of the saplings to be planted, will make the plantings in accordance with the ecological process. Firefighters and İSKİ teams sent by İBB to Manavgat and Marmaris continue their fire extinguishing efforts uninterruptedly.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) decided to plant 1 million 85 thousand saplings in the fire zones in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions, which saddened Turkey. Announcing the decision on social media, İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu said, “We will plant 1 million 85 thousand saplings in the fire zones on behalf of İBB and our affiliates. We know that nothing will bring back the forests that have disappeared with all their living creatures, but the saplings that we will plant quickly will contribute to the revival of nature,” he said.
The Directorate of Urban Ecological Systems, which was established for the first time in Turkey within the IMM Department of Park and Gardens, started to work on the type, time and location of the saplings to be planted. All saplings will be procured from Turkey in the study, where all saplings will be made in accordance with the ecological process. In particular, trees that are resistant to fire and suitable for the ecological structure of the region will be preferred.
IMM TEAMS ARE IN MANAVGAT AND MARMARIS
IMM, which sent its teams to the region to support the fire extinguishing efforts in Antalya's Manavgat district, has also assigned teams for the ongoing fire in Muğla's Marmaris district. The team, consisting of 101 personnel and 14 vehicles, continues its fire extinguishing efforts at different points in the Gazipaşa district in coordination with other teams working in the region.
IMM teams, who moved to Gazipaşa district in coordination with the Antalya Fire Department, continue their fire extinguishing efforts at different points in this region. Muğla Marmaris team coordinated with Muğla Fire Department. İçmeler and Hisarönü regions and continues firefighting efforts at these points. İSKİ's support team, consisting of 8 personnel and 4 vehicles, also reached the region and started working in coordination with Antalya Water and Wastewater Administration.
