National taekwondo player Hatice Kübra İlgün lost her gold medal chance by losing 2020-57 to Anastajia Zolotic from the United States in the women's 17 kilograms quarter-finals on the second day of the 9 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The national athlete will try to maintain his bronze medal chance with the repechage match.

In the taekwondo competitions held at Makuhari Messe A Hall, Hatice Kübra eliminated Costa Rican Nishi Lee Lindo Alvarez in the last 16 round and advanced to the quarter finals. The national taekwondo player struggled with Anastasija Zolotic from the USA at this stage.

While both athletes started the match with an attacking tactic, Hatice Kübra could not prevent her opponent's points and closed the first round behind 6-0. The 28-year-old national athlete, who could not dominate his opponent in the second round, finished the round 5-2 behind and fell back 11-2 in the total score.

Hatice Kübra İlgün, who had a great fight to come back in the last round, was defeated by 7-6 in total score, despite establishing a 17-9 advantage. The national athlete will try to reach the bronze medal by going to the repechage match.
