Offering numerous driving support and modern safety systems in its standard equipment, the New Mercedes-Benz Citan also offers a comprehensive and intuitive use option with MBUX, which has the "Hey Mercedes" voice command feature.

The new Mercedes-Benz Citan, which embodies all the characteristic DNA features of the brand, from striking design to driving features, safety to connectivity solutions, and its fully electric version, eCitan, are preparing to be introduced to the world on August 25, 2021. The digital launch can be followed at media.mercedes-benz.com/Citan.

Despite its compact exterior dimensions, Mercedes-Benz's new light commercial vehicle offers versatile usage features, especially in distribution and service areas, with its large interior and loading area. The wide-opening right and left sliding doors as well as the low loading sill facilitate access to the interior as well as loading and unloading of vehicles.

In the new Citan Tourer version, passengers are pampered with a cozy and comfortable living space. In addition to its highly variable and functional structure, the vehicle also offers high-level safety features and superior driving comfort.

Marcus Breitschwerdt, Head of Mercedes-Benz Light Commercial Vehicles; “The new Mercedes-Benz Citan has been completely redeveloped by professionals for professionals. From impeccable design to driving characteristics, and from safety to connectivity, the New Citan has all the Mercedes-Benz DNA.” said.

Safety is a fundamental and primary value for Mercedes-Benz. The balanced body with energy-absorbing and energy-dissipating beams, up to seven airbags as standard, and comprehensive equipment with modern driving support systems help ensure this safety. In addition, assist systems can support or comfort the driver in many driving scenarios.

Security is not provided only with these systems. Like the Sprinter or the Mercedes-Benz passenger car product family, the New Citan can be optionally equipped with the intuitive and adaptive infotainment system MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience).

Security systems can predict dangerous situations

Mercedes-Benz Light Commercial Vehicles Strategic Project Manager and Chief Engineer Dirk Hipp; “While implementing the driving assistance systems, we aimed to offer the comfort and harmony of our passenger cars in a commercial vehicle as well. Gentle interventions that will hardly be noticed by our customers will be available in the ESP as well as the hill start assist or crosswind assist.” said.

Driving support and parking systems, which use cameras in addition to radar and ultrasonic sensors, monitor the traffic and the environment, and warn or intervene when necessary. As in the example of the new generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class and S-Class, Active Lane Keeping Assist, which works with steering intervention, provides comfort.

Apart from the legal requirements of ABS and ESP, the New Citan versions are equipped with hill start assist, crosswind assist, fatigue warning system ATTENTION ASSIST as standard. The driver assistance systems offered in the Citan Tourer version expands with Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Speed Limiting Assist.

For example, the active distance assistant DISTRONIC, which autonomously monitors traffic jams, and the Active Steering Assistant, which helps the driver keep the Citan in the middle of the lane, are offered as optional equipment.

With the standard middle airbag offered in the Citan Tourer, which can be deployed between the driver and front passenger seats in the event of a serious side collision, the New Citan is also assertive in safety systems. While the Citan Tourer protects the passengers with a total of seven airbags, the panel van model is equipped with six airbags as standard.

With the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant feature, MBUX also understands indirect voice commands

With powerful chips, adaptive software, high-resolution displays and brilliant graphics, MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) has changed the way cars are used.

Different versions of MBUX are optionally available in the new Citan. The system stands out with features such as intuitive operation via the seven-inch touchscreen or the touch control buttons on the steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity and hands-free operation via digital radio (DAB and DAB +).

The new Mercedes-Benz Citan and its fully electric version, the eCitan, will be introduced to the world on August 25, 2021.
