The European Union announced the "European Union Green Agreement" on 2050 December 11, with the goal of zeroing carbon emissions by 2019. It implemented the “Green Reconciliation Action Plan” in order to adapt to the steps taken by the EU, Turkey's largest trade and investment partner. Aegean Exporters' Associations gave full support to the “Green Reconciliation Action Plan” published in the Official Gazette.

The mass production that started with the industrial revolution; Aegean Exporters' Unions Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi stated that it expands the comfort zone of humanity and facilitates the life of humanity in logistics, technology, many sectors and communication areas, and noted that minimizing environmental and economic losses due to industrial pollution and wrong choices has become a necessity.
The Green Deal Action Plan will also contribute to our competitiveness
Pointing out that humanity does not yet have a living space outside the world, Eskinazi said, “Humanity began to seek solutions for a greener world and to heal the wounds of the industrial revolution. The first step in this journey came from the European Union. With the European Union Green Agreement announced on 11 December 2019, the EU announced to the world that it aims to zero carbon emissions by 2050. In 2022, we will have to pay carbon tax on exports to the EU. It was imperative that we take quick steps in this regard. "Green Reconciliation Action Plan", which was prepared with the support of public and private sector institutions under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce and published in the Official Gazette on July 16, 2021, will help us live in a green world and also contribute to our competitiveness.
Pointing out that the climate balance has deteriorated as a result of the change the world has been experiencing in the industry for the last 200 years, EIB Coordinator Chairman Eskinazi said that the EU Green Consensus is the biggest initiative of the European Union to date, and that it raises awareness around the world.
Sharing the information that Turkey has reached a trade volume of 2020 billion dollars with the European Union by the end of 140, Aegean Exporters' Unions Coordinator Vice President Birol Celep said; In the “Green Reconciliation Action Plan” of the Ministry of Commerce; carbon regulations at the border, a green and circular economy, green finance, clean, economical and safe energy supply, sustainable agriculture, sustainable smart transportation, combating climate change, diplomacy and European Green Deal information and awareness activities will be implemented in order to reach the targets set. He stated that actions were included, and that the Action Plan included a total of 9 targets and 32 actions under 81 main headings.
Reminding that the Aegean Exporters' Associations became members of the Global Compact, the world's largest sustainability initiative, in 2019, and that they declared 2020 the "Year of Sustainability", Celep said, "We do not see the "Green Reconciliation Action Plan" as just a climate policy. We perceive and support it as an economic and social transformation program. We see the work done for the EU Green Deal as a necessity. Sustainable agriculture, one of the titles in the Green Reconciliation Action Plan, is a priority for us. Turkey is among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of agricultural output. We have to protect our 24 million hectares of arable agricultural land and plant flora. Our water resources are threatened by global climate change. Within the scope of the Green Reconciliation Action Plan, a national master plan for water reuse and a guide document on water footprint will be prepared. The United States and China, which pollute the world the most outside the EU, have also taken action to minimize the harms of climate change. We must eliminate the elements that threaten our future by investing in modern irrigation.”
