While ASELSAN takes on important tasks in many different areas of life with the advanced technologies it has produced for nearly half a century, it also puts sustainability at the forefront. Publishing its Sustainability Report, ASELSAN announced that it has accelerated its sustainability efforts with its social, environmental and economic dimensions.
Environmentally friendly approaches in production and business processes
Keeping carbon emissions under control in its facilities, ASELSAN has carried its environmentally friendly approach forward every year. ASELSAN also received the Climate Leader Award in 2020 at the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), the environmental project with the world's most reliable rating methodology. The company was one of the five companies that were ranked at the A-score level among the 2019 companies that responded under the heading of Climate Change in the 54 CDP Turkey Reporting and were entitled to receive the Climate Leader Award.
With this score, which is an indicator of the value ASELSAN attaches to the environment in a sustainable way, it preserved its place among the important defense industry organizations in the world. As part of the efforts to reduce environmental impacts, the development work for the Zero Waste Application, which was implemented at ASELSAN campuses, continued in 2020. In 2020, a total of 5.038 employees were given distance training on environmental protection. Unified communication and video conferencing systems were put into use in business processes.
Emissions from travel were reduced by reducing travel needs between campuses.
ASELSAN also cooperated with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and the Ministry of Forestry within the framework of social responsibility in climate change studies.
Suppliers are also encouraged
ASELSAN continued its practice of giving the “Supplier Sustainability Award” to its suppliers, which have achieved outstanding success in environmental and social sustainability practices, last year as well.
ASELSAN also announced in the report that it is committed to determining and managing climate change risks, monitoring and transparently reporting greenhouse gas emissions in order to reduce the effects of global climate change, carefully monitoring national and international environmental sustainability programs and creating sustainability added value at the highest level. .
Success was also “sustainable”
ASELSAN drew attention both in the national and global arena with its projects and approaches that make a difference in sustainability. As always, the most important driving force behind ASELSAN, which continues its steady growth, has been its employees. ASELSAN, which did not interrupt production during the epidemic, launched the "a BİL-GE Platform" over the internet and mobile application in 2020 in order to make the development of its employees sustainable. With the trainings specially designed for the pandemic period, he was with nearly 9 thousand employees on his development journey.
Continuing its nationalization and indigenization efforts with discipline, ASELSAN joined forces with its suppliers through the “Power of One” online platform during the pandemic and took critical steps in sustainable production. ASELSAN, which is one of the companies that spend the most on R&D in Turkey, has achieved sustainable success and continued its steady growth.
