Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu: “Marmara Region; With its ports, logistics zones, railway connections, Marmaray and growing industry, it will be the economy, finance and trade center of Eurasia. North of Istanbul; Kanal Istanbul, Istanbul Airport, commercial ports, Northern Marmara Highway; moreover, it will turn into the most important logistics center in the world with its railway connections and logistics bases.”
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu will be held in Istanbul on 6-8 October 2021. He spoke at the closing session of the Transport and Communication Council Common Mind Conference.
In the closing speech of the conference held in Afyonkarahisar, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the 'new age of transportation and communication', which started in Turkey 19 years ago, continues with the renewal and transformation process by accelerating. Pointing to an ambitious process shaped by holistic development-oriented mobility, digitalization and logistics dynamics in the fields of transportation and communication, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “As before, the transportation and communication sectors will continue to be the main locomotives of development in every field, especially the economy, which will extend to 2053 and 2071. They will play an important role in the journey. The world is developing very rapidly. Social and economic changes are now happening almost instantaneously. For this reason, we will include the needs that have not been revealed in the new transformation process more in our plans. With our foresights, we will design the future in 'human, load and data transportation', which we have determined as our field of activity, and we will set targets accordingly. With our vision in line with our Transportation and Logistics Master Plan and Strategic Plan, we will continue on our way by taking into account the dynamics of mobility, digitalization and logistics.”
“The Welfare of Our People Can Be Established With Equality in Development”
Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that they are working with the aim of supporting equality in development geographically while making Turkey the dominance of the world's largest and most important commercial corridors, and said, “In our transportation ecosystem, which we have designed as an integrated, we integrate all our modes with each other on the basis of efficiency. We ensure that our citizens in Kars or Van can also enjoy the opportunities that our citizens in Istanbul or İzmir have in the field of transportation and communication, and the welfare they gain in these areas. Our main motivation is the added value we provide for holistic development, our sine qua non for national economic independence. Because the welfare and happiness of our people can only be established with equality in development from the village to the city, from the east to the west.
“From 2003 to Today; We Invested 32 Billion Dollars in Our Railways”
Pointing out that the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and its related institutions have the largest share of the government's total budget, with a rate of 2021 percent, within the scope of the 31 investment program, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “With the appropriation of 2021 billion TL in 44,8, in line with the supreme interests of our country and our people, transportation and we continue our infrastructure investments without slowing down. For this reason, our responsibility is great, our duty is supreme.”
Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows: “From 2003 to today; By investing 32 billion dollars in our railways, we realized our YHT projects. We built urban rail system lines, carried out our renovation, signalization and electrification works, and brought our Turkey logistics centers that increased our claim in rail transport. We have literally knitted our country with demi nets. We have transformed the railways into a strategic power of Turkey.”
“Marmara Region and Istanbul will be the focus of world trade”
Pointing out that Turkey is the heart of the Middle Corridor and North-South Corridor in terms of logistics, Minister Karaismailoğlu pointed out that the Marmara Region and Istanbul will be the focus of world trade and that the amount of cargo passing through the Straits will increase every year, and continued his words as follows: With the completion of Kanal Istanbul, which is expected to significantly reduce the transit traffic, Marmara Region; With its ports, logistics zones, railway connections, Marmaray and growing industry, it will be the economy, finance and trade center of Eurasia. North of Istanbul; Kanal Istanbul, Istanbul Airport, commercial ports, Northern Marmara Highway; moreover, it will turn into the most important logistics center in the world with its railway connections and logistics bases.”
