The 'Van Lake Northern Crossing Railway Project', which starts from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University and connects to the Small Industrial Site Cooperative located in Şemsibey Mahallesi, Kalecik Mahallesi, and from the Yeni Carpenters Site to the sewage area in Beyüzümmu Mahallesi, consists of approximately 2 residences and residences on the route. President Akman, who said that it is a project that is not applicable because it negatively affects the workplace, noted that it was removed in the 1/100 000 scale environmental plan as a result of the intense efforts they carried out before the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

Mayor Akman said, “After the Van earthquakes in 2011, the railway line, which was included in the 1/100 000 scale implementation development plan made by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, as the 'Van Lake Northern Crossing Railway Project', remained within our district borders. However, since the date our zoning plan came into effect, our zoning practices have been interrupted since no expropriation has been made regarding the immovables and structures on the railway. Together with our deputies, our provincial president and mayors, we have solved this problem, which has become a big problem as a result of the initiatives we have carried out before the ministries for the future of our province, and thousands of people in our district have been negatively affected. On behalf of myself and the people of my district, I would like to thank everyone who contributed.”
