Karaismailoğlu said, “Cyprus is the common cause of all of us. The increase in Turkey's power in the region and in the world will undoubtedly strengthen the power and sphere of influence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, especially in the Eastern Mediterranean basin. The holistic development of Turkey also means the holistic development of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu met with his counterpart, Minister of Public Works and Transport of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Officialye Eroğlu Canaltay and the accompanying delegation. Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that they aim to make significant contributions to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with the investments made by Turkey to become a logistics power, to develop the economy and increase employment in the region.

Turkey will build 10 kilometers of roads in the TRNC within 314 years.

Reminding that they signed the Highways 11-2021 Implementation Protocol on February 2021, 2022, by renewing the existing road agreements between the two countries, Minister Karaismailoğlu emphasized that they expanded the highway agreements to cover the years 2020-2030, and included the following statements in his statement:

“Within the scope of the cooperation between the two countries in the field of highways covering the years 1988 -2020; In the TRNC, we built a total of 19 kilometers of roads, 181 kilometers of divided roads on 20 separate road sections, and 421 kilometers of single roads on 602 separate road sections. In addition, we continue our investments related to 5 important highways. In the next 10 years, we will construct another 221 kilometers of roads, including 93 kilometers of divided highways and 1 kilometers of 314st class roads, in the TRNC. Our cooperation continues to strengthen in the installation of traffic safety and radar systems on the roads of the TRNC.”

The cooperation between Turkey and the TRNC on the seas is of strategic importance

Stating that the cooperation between Turkey and the TRNC is not limited to highways, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “With the agreements we signed this year, we will establish the Ship Traffic Services System between the two countries. This project has strategic importance between the two countries. We continue to work on the development of Famagusta and Girne ports and the construction of a new cargo port in Kalecik. We know that the steps we take to strengthen the dominance of both Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the seas will turn into employment as soon as possible for the future generations of both countries.

Stage 1 works at Ercan Airport will be completed by the end of this year

Karaismailoğlu, who informed that they aim to complete the 1st Stage works at Ercan Airport, which is carried out and under construction by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority, ended his words as follows:

“We do not neglect to develop our cooperation in the fields of broadcasting and communication between the two countries. In this respect, we will witness the contribution of the Camlica Tower, the new symbol of the New Turkey, which we have recently opened, in terms of both engineering and communication capabilities. Both parties have a strong common will to accelerate joint projects between our countries. We continue to strengthen our cooperation between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the fields of trade, tourism, energy, education and culture, as well as in the public works and transportation sectors.

“Motherland Turkey has always been the gateway to the world for the TRNC”

The Minister of Public Works and Transport of the TRNC Officialye Eroğlu Canaltay said that the most important cooperation in the development of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has always been with the Republic of Turkey:

“Motherland Turkey has always been the door to the world for us. Since I took office as the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, we have been continuing our work by improving our relations with Turkey. I would like to express my thanks to Turkey and our Minister for all the projects carried out by the motherland Turkey in the TRNC.”
