The reasons such as the increasing effects of Global Warming and the diseases caused by air pollution starting to affect more and more people started the process leading up to the prohibition of polluting fuels. While carbon emission values are constantly updated, diesel fuel, which causes air pollution, is banned in many countries. By 2030, the UK and Japan are preparing to ban the sale of gasoline and diesel vehicles. Explaining the importance of LPG in transportation on June 7, World LPG Day, Turkey CEO of alternative fuel systems giant BRC Kadir Örücü said, “We will see transportation vehicles that work with alternative fuels in the future. LPG is environmentally friendly, clean, economical and transforms the vehicles we currently use, catching the future with an important investment like bioLPG. LPG vehicles will continue to be used until the day we say goodbye to internal combustion engines.

LPG, which is the most environmentally friendly fuel type for motor vehicles, stands out as the most prominent option among alternative fuels. While states and intergovernmental organizations update their carbon emission values annually, diesel fuel is banned in many European countries due to its polluting nature. While the European Union set a new carbon emission target for 2030, the UK and Japan announced that they would ban gasoline and diesel vehicles in 2030.

Kadir Örücü, Turkey's CEO of BRC, the world's largest alternative fuel systems manufacturer, made a special statement on June 7, World LPG Day, and said, “The days when vehicles that will operate with alternative fuels will become more widespread. Although electric vehicles constitute a serious alternative for internal combustion engines, battery technologies have not yet reached the desired point.

“LITHIUM BATTERIES USED BY ELECTRIC VEHICLES ARE TOXIC”

Pointing out that lithium batteries, which we frequently use in our electronic goods, are also used in electric vehicles, Kadir Örücü said, “Lithium batteries, unlike other batteries, are recycled.

It is thrown away because it is not recycled. Since developed countries do not accept toxic, flammable and reactive lithium, batteries with the end of their life are sold to underdeveloped countries as 'garbage'. Considering that an average Tesla vehicle contains about 70 kilos of lithium, we can understand the harm that electric vehicles will cause to the environment unless a new battery technology is introduced.

“CONVERSION TO ALTERNATIVE FUELS”

Reminding the 2030 targets, BRC Turkey CEO Kadir Örücü said, “The new carbon emission targets set by the European Union for 2030 will push the internal combustion engine technologies to the extreme. We anticipate that the diesel bans that started in Germany, Italy and Spain will be implemented in other countries due to both emission targets and the increase in solid particle (PM) values that endanger human health. The goal of banning gasoline and diesel vehicles in 2030, announced by the UK and Japan at the end of last year, has been the most radical of the decisions taken so far. We can say that the transformation that started in European countries is accelerating and will spread all over the world.”

“PRODUCED FROM WASTE MATERIALS, CHEAP: BioLPG”

Reminding that biological fuels are developing gradually and methane gas has been obtained from wastes for many years, Kadir Örücü said, “BioLPG, which is obtained through a process similar to biodiesel fuel, can be the fuel of the future. While vegetable-based oils such as waste palm oil, corn oil, and soybean oil can be used in its production, BioLPG, which is seen as biological waste, is also used as waste fish and animal oils, and by-products that turn into waste in food production, is currently in the UK, Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the USA produced and put into use. The fact that it is produced from waste and its production costs are low makes BioLPG meaningful.”

“BioLPG IS EVEN MORE ENVIRONMENTAL THAN THE MOST ENVIRONMENTAL FOSSIL FUEL LPG”

Drawing attention to the data of the World LPG Organization, Örücü said, “BioLPG, which emits even less carbon than LPG, which is known as the most environmentally friendly fossil fuel, reaches up to 80% less emission values compared to LPG. According to LPG Organization (WLPGA) data, the carbon emission of LPG is 10 CO2e/MJ, while the emission value of Diesel is measured as 100 CO2e/MJ, and the carbon emission value of gasoline is measured as 80 CO2e/MJ.”

“WE CAN SEE HYBRID VEHICLES WITH BioLPG”

Emphasizing that hybrid vehicles will gain importance in the transition from fossil fuels to alternatives with low carbon emissions, Kadir Örücü said, “Hybrid vehicle with LPG has attracted the attention of automotive giants for a long time. "With the introduction of BioLPG, we can have a real environmentalist option that has less carbon emissions, is renewable and realizes waste management."

“THE SMARTEST OPTION FOR OUR FUTURE: LPG”

Emphasizing that battery technology is expected for electric vehicles and that internal combustion engines cannot be abandoned all at once, Kadir Örücü said, “It is of great importance for electric vehicles to find more environmentally friendly battery technologies that will enable them to travel longer distances. On the other hand, it is not possible to say 'goodbye' to internal combustion engines all of a sudden. With the spread of BioLPG, when we add waste management and cheap costs to the equation, LPG will be the most rational option. As we take measures to stop the effects of Global Warming, LPG and bioLPG will continue to exist until vehicles with internal combustion engines disappear.”
