President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated online in the vaccination program carried out with volunteers at Ankara City Hospital as part of the Phase-19 study of the domestic Kovid-3 vaccine.

Highlights from President Erdogan's speech:

“On behalf of my country and my nation, I would like to thank our scientists who contributed to this vaccine, which was developed by our Erciyes University and the Presidency of Turkish Health Institutes, for our domestic vaccine, which has already reached the highest level in our country.

I wish the studies of our scientists who carry out their studies to be concluded as soon as possible.

Turkey is now opening the doors of a new era in this regard.

The most effective and common means known in the world are vaccines. Turkey is at a very advanced level as a supplier and implementer of all vaccines, especially in China and Germany, which have reached concrete data.

Hopefully, in a few weeks, we will have the entire population over the age of 18 in our country within the scope of vaccination.

As we progress in the fight against the epidemic and vaccination, we are removing or reducing the restrictions one by one. With the beginning of June, it has already started initiatives that will make our nation breathe easier in many areas.

After our Cabinet meeting yesterday, we shared our struggle and good news from our nation regarding many issues, especially the curfews, with the month of July.

Although the vaccines we obtain from outside are important, the main thing is to produce our own vaccine.

It is unclear how long the epidemic will last and how many mutations it will undergo. It is critical that we have our own vaccine in order to save our country from the grip of the epidemic as soon as possible and to ensure the health and well-being of our nation.

With this study, which was completed in 3 phases, we now find that we have entered the final turning point in having our own vaccine.

What goes through my heart personally about the name may be; It is appropriate to be named TÜRKOVAC for the convenience of being implemented throughout our country.”
